Default I never knew that George, Louise, and Mother Jefferson was in a episode of Good Times

Today I saw The Jeffersons on the set of Good Times. No lie, they were shown two times in the episode "J.J in Trouble". Michael and J.J were reading a EBONY Magazine and George, Louise and Mother jefferson were on the front-clear as day. I never noticed that before.

If that's true, that would screw up that sitcoms universe. Technically, the Jeffersons and the Evans are both linked to Maude and Archie Bunker. So in that universe, there was no such shows as All in the Family and The Jeffersons because they were real! WEIIIIIIIIRD!

So can we call this a blooper that Michael and J.J made since they held the EBONY magazine up high enough for me to see the Jeffersons? Was I supposed to see it ?

Maybe it was an inside joke.(Something that the producers snuck in the shot)

That's what I was thinking too. Maybe it was down purposely by the producers.

Oh, yeah. I know that. I remember that when I was viewing that from the Columbia House Collection. I did not see Mother Jefferson on the cover. I need to play the tape back and check it again. BTW I did get your e-mail.. my account was disabled due to too many messages.

Good Times was probably not in the same sitcom universe as Maude, AITF, and the Jeffersons because Florida Evans in Maude was a different Florida Evans in Good Times because of the Henry/James and Chicago/Tuckahoe situations that we have discussed before. This would put Maude and Good Times in separate universes and since Maude and the Jeffersons were in the same universe (Maude and George both hated Archie!) this would make Good Times in a different universe than the Jeffersons.

However, in the unlikely scenario that Henry was James real first name since his father was Henry, and that Florida decided to start calling him James, and that their family always lived in Chicago even though Florida was Maude's maid in Tuckahoe, New York, that would put Good Times in the same universe as the Jeffersons. (Remeber the scifi series Sliders about different universes, that is always how I imagined that TV characters were) It is possible that George, being a successful businessman, could have been featured in Ebony as George Jefferson, not as Sherman Hemsley the actor, in the Good Times universe.

But since Mike Evans created Good Times and was also the original Lionel Jefferson, it was most likely an inside joke.

I wonder why none of the Good Times characters mentioned the Jffersons like they mentioned Sanford and Son. J.J, Thelma and Florida mentioned Redd Foxx but not Sherman Hemsley. Maybe Mike Evans didn't think it was a good idea.

Sanford and Son was definetely in a different universe than AITF, Maude, Jeffersons, Good Times and even more important, it was on a different network!(NBC, all the other shows were CBS)

Yeah, but wouldn't it be cool if the characters from Good Times, The Jeffersons, and Sanford and Son intermingled? Can't you just see the story possibilities? Fred, George and J.J. working a big scam and Lamont, Weezie, Florida and James trying to put a stop to it? Maybe Lionel and Micheal could exchange notes, or Thelma and Jenny, with Aunt Esther's help, can plot the downfall of the scam.

It just boggles the mind!!

I believing the inside joke scenario. That was probably a way of advertising the other show as well. As far as the other universe thing. They could have close that gap if they had mentioned that they had moved back to Chicago from New York in a Good Times episode.
