Does anybody remember the TV music series Solid Gold?
According to my high-school pal Peter, Solid Gold had to have aired sometime in the mid '70's. True?

He claimed that Barry Manilow hosted SG around 1976 or so.

False. Solid Gold aired throughout the 80's.(1980-1988) There were several hosts but none of them were ever Barry Manilow.

I remember that show. It was on from 1980 to 88

These are the hosts:

Dionne Warwick .... Herself/Host (1980-1981, 1985-1986)
Andy Gibb (I) .... Himself/Host (1981-1982)
Rex Smith (I) .... Himself/Host (1982-1983)
Rick Dees .... Himself/Host (1984-1985)
Marilyn McCoo .... Herself/Host (1981-1984, 1986-1988)

U nuts? Let me tell you this. Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. had
hosted Solid Gold (if so) around 1975. THIS IS TRUE! I ain't making
this up. I'm telling you, Manilow did host it around '76 or so. The
fact of the matter is that my friend Peter Hightower of Brooklyn,
NY has discovered this. Hightower said that the thing about Manilow hosting SG was once mentioned on VH-1's Eight Track
Flashback by Suzanne Somers.

It was on from 80-88. Marilyn Mcoo & Billy Davis Jr. had their own show in the 70's and Barry Manilow was a pretty big star at that point.

How the heck did Rex Smith get into that mix?

Let's cut through the BS. Now, since VH-1 hasn't aired Solid Gold
in about 5 years, is there a good channel where we can have
reruns of SG air? Like TNN, BET, etc.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen it lately. I wish it would rerun. That was a great show.
