Break Out the Parachute Pants and Prepare For An Irreverent Look At '80s Pop Culture in An All-New Ten-Hour, Five-Night Special, Premiering Monday-Friday, December 16-20 At 9:00 P.M. (ET/PT) Each Night

More Than 200 Music Artists, TV and Film Stars, Athletes and Celebs
Dish the Decade In VH1's Outrageous Year-By-Year Flashback

NEW YORK, Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- It was the decade that spawned MTV,
Rubik's Cube, "Fast Times at Ridgemont High," Michael Jackson jackets, Donkey
Kong, "Don't Worry Be Happy," Baby on Board, Milli Vanilli, yuppies, preppies,
and the Coreys (Haim, Feldman, and Hart). And now it's time to separate the
cool from the lame.
An outrageous 10-hour, five-night flashback, "I Love the '80s" tells the
truth about the decade of greed. Celebrities weigh in on what was cool, lame,
bizarre, beautiful, puzzling and pretentious about the people, music, movies,
TV shows, products, fashions, fads, trends and major events that defined pop
culture during the decade. The all-new VH1 special premieres two episodes per
evening on Monday-Friday, December 16-20, beginning at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT) each
night, and anchoring a special "VH1 '80s Week."
Each one-hour episode of "I Love the '80s" takes an irreverent, bawdy
roller-coaster ride through one single year, and celebrates the good, the bad,
and the ugly in an offbeat new kind of nostalgia show, spotlighting retro
clips from sitcoms, movies, music videos, TV commercials, network news and
other sources -- plus more than 200 new interviews with the people who
survived the decade that defined big hair. Faith Hill, Mark McGrath, Rob
Thomas, Bonnie Hunt, Nickelback, Barenaked Ladies, Uncle Kracker, Dana Delany,
Juliette Lewis and Cuba Gooding Jr. headline the music artists, TV and film
stars, athletes, journalists and other celebs who dish the decadent decade,
also featuring '80s survivors like Kool & The Gang, Quiet Riot, Judas Priest's
Rob Halford, Rick James, Henry Rollins, Heart, Tom Petty, Santana and Tiffany.
Not everybody who lived through the '80s was interviewed -- but almost.
VH1's "I Love the '80s" also checks in with Bret Michaels, Sammy Hagar, Ben
Folds, Mark Hoppus, Wyclef Jean, Toni Basil, Mya, Alice Cooper, Dave Mustaine,
Apollonia, David Gray, Sebastian Bach, Meredith Brooks, Peter Gabriel, Joe
Elliot, Clarence Clemons, Greg Kihn, India.Arie, Kevin Rowland, Andy Piercy,
and Tommy Tutone, among many others. In addition, "I Love the '80s" hears
from a host of TV and film figures like Erik Palladino, Lisa Ling, Sharon
Lawrence, Kim Fields, Timothy Busfield, JoBeth Williams, Natasha Henstridge,
Leah Remini, Kevin Sorbo, Daisy Fuentes, Rain Pryor, Candace Cameron, Raven
Symone, Ron Jeremy, Lea Thompson, Curtis Armstrong, Finola Hughes, Christopher
Atkins, Barbara Barrie, Mario Lopez, Jackie Zeman, Lesley Ann Warren, Wally
Langham, and the casts of "Law & Order/SVU," "Charmed" and "Life with Bonnie."
Filmmaker Michael Moore, Barney's creative director Simon Doonan, designer
Betsy Johnson, Heidi Fleiss, Larry Flynt and Karen Duffy also lend their own
perspective, joining Jillian Barberie of Fox NFL, Cheryl Hines ("Curb Your
Enthusiasm"), Mo Collins and Deb Wilson of "Mad TV," Kathy Griffin, Carrot
Top, Judy Gold, Mo Rocca ("The Daily Show"), Rich Eisen and Stuart Scott of
ESPN's SportsCenter," Michael Ian Black ("Ed"), Jeffrey Ross, Chris Titus, Hal
Sparks ("Queer As Folk"); journalists Joel Stein, Scott Poulson-Bryant and Dan
Savage; and athletes Mary Lou Retton, Brian Boitano and Jason Sehorn. (A
complete list of interviewees is enclosed.)

video interviews, take a look back at the "You know you're a child of the 80s
if ... " list and VH1.com has also posted 20 "Fun Facts" about each year and
is presenting polls as well as the opportunity to buy CDs from their favorite
80s artists.
VH1 Classic, the new digital television music channel from VH1, also
celebrates "I Love the '80s Week," kicking off on the weekend of December
14-15 with wall-to-wall '80s music videos from A-Z. And during the week of
December 16-20, VH1 Classic presents '80s themed listening parties featuring
two great albums each night. On Monday, it's Pink Floyd "The Wall" (1980) and

production of VH1. Executive Producer, Meredith Ross; Producer, Karla

Default Seems Like Old Times

I watched the first night of "I Love the 80's," and boy did it bring back the memories. I smiled a lot when I saw some old but familiar clips and when the various stars talked of events from a particular year in the 80's. I found myself often saying "I remember that" and fondly recalling what was, to me, one great decade. My one complaint about the documentary on the individual years, was it really necessary to focus on kids watching scrambled porn channels and uh, doing things most commonly associated with in a locked bathroom door? Think Jocelyn Elders. I might be in the minority but I did not consider "Porky's" to be the be all and end all comedy of the decade. I would just like to have seen a nice retrospective on the decade, leaving the teen sexual hobbies on the cutting room floor. Any thoughts?
