Hello there. I've been hearing that the shows, "Who's The Boss?" "All in The Family" and "Three's Company" were all originally British shows. Does anyone know if this is true because I love these shows but never heard of any British version. If it is, does anyone know of a site where I can see info about these shows. And does anyone know of any of popular American shows that were originally British?

"Who's The Boss" is an original US show. It was adapted here in the UK as "The Upper Hand".
The other two you mention though were originally British shows. "All In The Family" was based on the British 60's/70's sitcom "Till Death Us Do Part". "Three's Company" was based on the 70's show "Man About The House" These sites are worth a look: Man About The House Till Death Us Do Part |

I've been watching The Upper Hand quite a lot recently on re-runs and it isn't as good as Who's The Boss was.
I was just watching an episode of Man About The House earlier, it's still quite funny but I've never seen Three's Company. They do make quite a lot of changes in translations, eg in the British Till Death Us Do Part the character of Archie Bunker was completely unlikeable and racist, but in the American version he is shown to have a nice side. |

When translating US into Standard English, we linguists call in "cheeselation".
Another remake was Dad's Army. A pilot was made. It wasn;t very good, or funny. |

There was also the Sitcom, High Society which was loosely based on the UK's Absolutely Fabulous.
Cosby(Not the Cosby Show) was based on the UK's One Foot in the Grave. |
