THE DREW CAREY SHOW” AND “WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY?” TO SWITCH TIME SLOTS
Beginning FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, ABC’s “The Drew Carey Show” and “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” will switch time slots. “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” will air at 9:00 p.m., ET, followed at 9:30 p.m. by “The Drew Carey Show“ on the ABC Television Network. “Whose Line Is It Anyway” features Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, Colin Mochrie and Wayne Brady, along with recurring performers Greg Proops, Brad Sherwood, Chip Esten and Kathy Greenwood. “The Drew Carey Show” stars Drew Carey as Drew, Diedrich Bader as Oswald, Kathy Kinney as Mimi Bobeck, Craig Ferguson as Nigel Wick, Ryan Stiles as Lewis, John Carroll Lynch as Steve and Cynthia Watros as Kellie. Dan Patterson, Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, Denise O’Donoghue and Jimmy Mulville are the executive producers of “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” which premiered on August 5, 1998. Mark Leveson is co-executive producer. The show was created by Dan Patterson and Mark Leveson, and is produced by Riverside Productions, Inc., in association with Hat Trick Productions, LTD, and is distributed by Warner Bros. Television. Drew Carey and Bruce Helford created “The Drew Carey Show” which premiered on September 13, 1995. Bruce Helford, Drew Carey, Clay Graham, Bruce Rasmussen, Deborah Oppenheimer, Les Firestein, Michael Teverbaugh, Dan O’Keefe and David Caplan are executive producers. “The Drew Carey Show” is produced by Mohawk Productions, Inc., in association Warner Bros. Television. |

What I don't understand is why they have to keep Drew Carey around anymore. Yes, it is in syndication, and they must air it for 2 or 3 more years...but if it wasn't doing well, than why did they choose syndication anyways? Drew Carey is just killing WLITA.

The bit about Drew Carey killing Whose Line is a bit ironic. Whose Line got it's best ratings airing after Drew Carey when the show started on ABC. But it is true now.
During it's ABC run, Whose Line has been a real survivor. It's gone up against Friends and Survivor. Really killer competition that knocked out shows that actually had budgets, writers, etc. |
