Default Who's idea was it for the Will character to wear those crazy clothes in season 1 ?

Will's clothes in the first season was WILD!!!!-Those lme green, and Pink clothes he was wearing. You couldn't look at Will's outfits the first 2 seasons without a pair of sun glasses. I'm glad the change was made because the Will character was looking foolish. I still wonder was the choice to wear those outfits Will Smith's or the producers.

If you really think about it.... Around that time... alot of people were wearing those type of clothes... mostly teenagers & rappers & all the bright colors & stuff was like the style back then.Too young then to really know much about the Latee 80's & early 90's but yeah! Just glad the style's gone today lol!

The only thing I can think is that they maybe wanted to show the audience he was a wild character.

THe Will Smith character was already Goofy-the clothes just made him more annoying. Green Shirt, Pink Hat-i tell you-it was a mess.

I thought Will looked Fly.

JK, seriously though, I can't argue with you about people in Philly not dressing like that. You live there and you should know. But I remember people around here did dress like that during the time period as Georgiaboyjeff said. And I saw people on MTV sporting that funky gear. Maybe Will was the one exception-eccentric in Philadelphia (because I imagine he was wearing that stuff there before he moved to Bel-Air). It's a big city, you probably never saw him.

Will's wardrobe on the show was fantastic. I think it fit his character perfectly.

I remember the teens wearing those clothes too. Maybe not everything that Will wore because Will had more money than the average teen. I remember seeing the young dudes with those shirts and crazy hats and they would dance to the older rap music.

Also I remember them wearing more Jazzy Jeff outfits.

i loved that style it reflected his personality. he even found a way to make the school uniform his own, by turning his blazer inside out.

The turn of the decade was a fun time. I'm addicted to Neneh Cherry's 1989 "Buffalo Stance" song & video.
