LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Used to impending nuptials going awry on their favorite shows, many fans were surprised last week when Grace of NBC's "Will & Grace" actually tied the knot with doctor boyfriend Leo (Harry Connick, Jr.). Then again, since the birth of Emma on "Friends" disproved the edict that babies
automatically signal a show's death rattle, why not?

"We believe that 'Friends' went through a tremendous creative renaissance a year ago," says Jeff Zucker, NBC's entertainment president. "We believe that 'ER' has gone through the same creative renaissance this year, and I would also say the same thing about 'Will & Grace.'"

As for those who assume that the marriage will be quickly annulled, or some comedic glitch to prove it wasn't really valid to begin with will arise, think again. Connick is already in
discussions to join the cast full-time.

"I know what [the show has] planned, and quite frankly I think in the fifth season of a show like this it was brilliant to provide a new spark and a new triangle," says Zucker. "It was time for something new in this show, and clearly the audience has responded to that."
