Unfortunately, I know a lot about it. I had it except they called it something else. It was the exact same symptoms, so it's the same thing. What brought mine on was a combo of things. I started having the symptoms when I was in Kindergarten. I had a really bitchy teacher and I dreaded going to school. I would get those horrid tasting burps and I would throw up all day long.

Also, if you drink a lot of dark drinks (Coca Cola, Pepsi, Dr. Pepper etc.) you need to lay off of them. My doctor said that drinking caffeine late at night was a bad thing for me. The acid would build up and I would barf. People, I used to swig Coke after Coke like there was no tomorrow. When the doctor told me about the dark drink deal, I started drinking clear drinks (Sprite, 7UP etc) and it does help some. Then I got tired of the clear drinks and I started drinking Fanta grape drinks. I'm too scared to pick up another Coca Cola because I know what it does to me. Get some Zantacs too. Zantacs help me if I know I'm gonna be eating anything really greasy or spicy.

The good news for me is that it started to fade away once I reached high school. I'm not saying I never threw up again. That's not the case, it kind of levelled off. I still have a few occasions where I have the awful burps and I throw up. It's not as bad, thank God.

Chad and Jenny. That sounds like a horrible nasty affliction. I hope you both get it under control. I've heard of it but never knew anyone that had it.

Hmm wow, Im sorry. Ive never heard about it. Is it a really bad disease, or just something that comes when you drink things like Coke etc.. is it preventable (the disease/symptoms)?

Try Zantac like Jenny suggested. That may help. Perhaps your doctor can prescribe something. My husband has acid reflux, and he used to suffer with heartburn, the burps and all that nasty stuff. He used to use so much Maalox and Tums, until his doctor prescribed Prevacid. One pill in the morning. and it's goodbye to the antacids.
Good luck.

Yep, same for me too. You know that's the reason why I hate popcorn now. The smell of popcorn reminds me of those nasty burps. Chad, I seriously hope it slows down for you and stops completely. I know exactly what you are going through.

You know, this whole conversation is bringing back some major memories. My father would yell everytime this happened and he said it wouldn't happen as much if I ate more vegetables. I hate most vegetables, but guess what happened. My father who is a vegetable eater now has the same trouble as I did. Yes, true story. He seriously has to watch what he eats. My father is like a walking drug store or something because he has so many health problems. I just thought it was weird that he's going through the same thing now.

I think my dad takes Prevacid. When I was younger, I used to take um Tagment (sp?) for it. I took the syrup formula. I think they have a pill version too. I'm not even sure if they make Tagment anymore.

I know this is probably gonna be the dumbest question I've ever asked on the boards. Well, maybe it's in the top 100 or something- lol. Chad, have you went to the doctor for it? I'm a totally different person than you and Zantac might not work in your case. When I was out of Zantac's about a week ago, I took one of dad's stomach pills. It didn't help because I got sick. It works for him, but didn't work for me.

OMG...I hope that u guys feel better...I kno how bad it is. My...I think aunt has it...

My health teacher's daughter had it and NEwayz she got lynphoma (sp?) and had them both at the same time. Oddly though, the chemotherapy cured the Crohn's disease. The doctors couldn't figure out how. So, now the Crohn's is gone and she is in remission for cancer...

Just decided to tell that lil story
