Safeway San Francisco 49ers Promotional commercial circa 1980's
The San Francisco 49ers is one of the top teams in the NFL. In the 1980's Safeway began airing a commercial for a special San Francisco 49ers promotion. This commercial possibly aired in Northern California TV stations in 1983. Safeway sponsored a special contest in which you got a game piece with any Safeway purchase of groceries and if The San Francisco 49ers won an NFL football game during the 1983 NFL season and if the score on the game matched the score on the game piece you could win many prizes including the grand prize of tickets to the 1984 Super Bowl. It's no secret why Safeway still does many sweepstakes devoted to football and is still today the number one store for Super Bowl party snacks and Safeway still does Super Bowl sweepstakes today
