"Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.The hands can't hit what the eyes can't see."
Freddie's impersonation of Muhammad Ali was always spot on..

I posted this video on here a few days ago. I mentioned how I didn't like Freddie basically badmouthing season two, which is my favorite season.

He mentions that he wrote an episode. It was "Chico Packs His Bags". In it, there's a line where Ed calls him a boy and Chico replies, "I'm not a boy, damn it, I'm a man." I wonder if that came from Freddie not liking that his nickname "Chico" means boy and that Richard Pryor would get on him for allowing them to refer to him as a boy by using that name.

Freddie's son mentioned that his father actually hated the 'Chico' moniker and would get upset when fans called him that instead of Freddie. Apparently, Pryor used to make fun of him for it, too. Personally, I never liked Pryor; I always felt he was just jealous of Freddie. Freddie's son actually told a funny story about an incident at Pryor's house that involved Pryor , Freddie sr and actresses Pam Grier and Joanna Kerns. He heard that story from joanna kerns, I think..

Yes, I've seen interviews with Freddie, Jr. where he's mentioned that. It upsets me that Pryor would get on him for the name "Chico" instead of just being proud of him for getting a hit sitcom.

I don't really think Freddie and Pryor were friends. More like fellow comedians. Freddie admired Pryor, but Pryor was most likely jealous of Freddie. He wanted to downplay his success in Chico and the Man. I guess he also had his own issues at the time. I feel sorry for Freddie because he was constantly surrounded by people much older than him who envied him or also fighting their own battles.. Entertainment industry is highly competitive.
One guy who seemed to really care about Freddie was David Brenner. I'm not so sure about Alan Bursky, Tony Orlando, etc..

Stellina, you summed it up perfectly. There was also the fact that both Pryor and Prinze were interested in/dating Pam Grier.
