Default Has Totino's Pizza changed its taste lately?

The other week I bought some Totino's Pizza and as I was eating it I noticed that Totino's Pizza seems to have changed it's taste and i'm wondering if anyone here who has bought Totino's Pizza has noticed it before? Also when I was trying to eat it the crust has turned crunchy and tastes like a cracker with pizza toppings. And there's very little cheese and sauce with Totino's Pizza as well. When it comes to frozen pizza I regularly buy Red Baron Pizza and I was very disappointed with Totino's Pizza and it used to be one of the top frozen pizzas

Yeah. Totino's is basically just cheap pizza , but it's tasty enough and it hits the spot if you are hungry. Not sure if it changed? Maybe because better, but more expensive frozen pizza came to the market more recently? But you can't beat the price of Totino's pizza.

Another reason that Totino don't taste like Red Baron might also be that Totino don't use real cheese on their pizza. Their cheese is called 'Mozzarella Cheese Substitute" which is water base, rather than real dairy base cheese.

I used to stock my freezer with those things in my early bachelor days just because they were cheap and easy to make. My friend referred to them as “s***box pizzas,” and the name kinda stuck. 25 years later, I still call them that.

But yeah cheap “pizza” = cheap ingredients. I just looked them up, and my local Walmart still sells them for $1.97 apiece or $5.97 for a five-pack. Obviously, they’ve got to cut corners somewhere to keep prices that low.

And the very last ingredient, some tiny amount of "natural flavor."

Gross. I can’t believe I used to consume that stuff — on purpose.

Plus, a whopping 740 mg of sodium, nearly a third of the RDA.

My mother ate them often, and she lived to 97. Who knows?

My favorite frozen pizza brands are Jack's and Red Baron. I haven't tried Totino's.

I've had recommendations for DiGiorno.

I'm wondering if they all have these huge ingredient lists, for something which should really have only a few.

I think frozen pizzas have to add extra ingredients to bind the ingredients together and keep the sauce from destroying the crust. I learned that on The History Channel, of all places.

That’s why I prefer take and bake, whether it’s from a place like Papa Murphy’s (which has no locations anywhere near the town I just moved to) or your favorite supermarket’s deli.

Makes sense -- tomatoes are very acidic.

I remember making the Chef Boyardee Pizza Kits. Those always came out well, esp. if you added some extra mozzarella cheese to them.

Papa Murphy's pizzas are quite good.
