Post Pie

This Father's Day, I hope that Freddie Jr. honors the memory of his father in some way, whether it be visiting his father's grave, or just stopping and thinking about him. I know it would probably really be hard, not remembering his father at all, but I'm sure he knows Freddie Sr. loved his little "pie" very much and would've been such a good daddy!

I would hope the same thing. I'm sure it would be hard for him but surely he has to have formed some sort of thought or opinion about his father. I never met my biological mother but I still think about her everyday and have thoughts on what I think she must have been like. I hope Freddie Jr. stops and thinks about his father tomorrow...even in some small way.

I read somewhere once that JR said he really had no fellings for his dad cuz he never knew him. So sad cuz his dad really loved him & I'm sure he hurts knowing he never got to know his dad...

Peko,
I have a thought...maybe he never formed any opinions about his dad because he was kept from the influence of his dad. What I mean is...like you said about John Lennon. We all cried and felt the loss because we all had wide spread exposure. Maybe Freddie Jr. didn't have the exposure to his dad...if you know what I mean. I'm sure his mother kept a lot from him. I read in the Teen People article where he said that he never really knew about his dad until a family friend drove him to the house where Marilyn Monroe used to live, parked outside and told him all about his dad. Creepy, huh? He was 17 years old. And the rest of who his dad was he learned from the press. I don't mean to sound crass or mean any disrespect but it has to be really hard to have an opinion about your dad when the only thing you ever hear about him is "The 70's comic who committed suicide with a .38 revolver."

Talking

I see your point, but to me, something just doesn't seem right. You'd think despite what happened to Freddie, that his mother would have told many stories, etc..It seems she did tell him Freddie loved him dearly, etc. But even if she didn't, what about Maria? From reading her book, and if that was the only thing you ever read or heard about Freddie, you get a strong sense of who he was, know what I mean? I guess there's things that don't seem quite clear here. But there are so many things regarding Freddie's life that are puzzling, as you know.

This must have to be a hard day for him. Im sure he does think of his father he just has to. You see all the other people shopping for gifts or going out in groups to eat at resturants something like that would make you wonder in your mind what it feels like.

Red face

I know it has to be sad for Freddie Jr. Someone on this board mentioned that none of us knew Freddie Sr. personally but, we love him because he made us laugh. I hope that Freddie Jr. goes to his fathers gravesite. Put flowers and pray for him and tell him that although he never really knew his father, he wouldn't be here if not for him. To thank him for the blood running through his veins. I hope that Freddie Jr. forgives his father because Freddie Sr. was only 22 years old at the time he died and he was so young. Also to remember that all of Freddie Srs. friends left him when he needed them the most. No one was there to help his father...............
