Thumbs up Ebay........

I had a few questions about the whole E-bay thing....

1. Do you need to pay anything to register? If so, then how?

2. When making a purchase, how do you pay? Do you send cash, a check, or do you pay by credit card?

3. If you give them a credit card, is there any way that someone can take it and charge off of it? How do I know I'm completely safe like with giving out my adress and phone number and such?

And answers would be greatly appreciated.

1- no
2- You can send them a check (which is what I always do) or use PayPal or something like that. That uses a credit card.

Some dont accept checks, so you gotta make sure they accept your type of payment. You also need a valid email address to verify who you are.

1. You don't need to pay, But you need to have a credit card to register.

2. If it's oversea's they usually want Cash or int. m.o.'s but usually you can use paypal, bidpay, check, money order...as long as they accept it.

3. You don't give out your phone number, But your adress yeah it is kinda risky...But I haven't had a problem with my purchases the last 2 years....And no, It goes through either Bidpay or Paypal and they can't. You usually dont't have that much contact with the seller if there is no problem anyways...so it's not a big worry.

When I resistered they didn't ask me for a credit card, just my name and E-Mail address. Although I've never sold anything through E-Bay, I've only purchased.
If you ever do decide to bid on anything just look at the sellers feedback profile. If there are a lot of negative comments I would be leary about dealing with that seller. I've never had any problems at all. I've used my credit card to purchase things through Paypal and have never had any problems with someone stealing the number or anything like that.

Every ebay transaction I've done has gone fine and I always pay for items by cheque, I've never used the Paypal thing.

Paypal is very easy. You can use that to pay by credit card or electronic transfer from your checking account. It's probably safer than sending checks actually.

If the seller doesn't accept checks, that's a good way to give them the money. Plus once they get it, they should send you the item right away instead of waiting up to 2 weeks for a check to clear.

Thanks for your feedback guys. There was something on E-bay that I really wanted and just wanted to see if i was a safe thing or a scam. (I'm paranoid about any transaction over the net) All the guy's feedback was really positive so I might go ahead and register. Thanks again!

It depends on how much the item is. The more expensive, the more you have to give to ebay. If it doesn't sell, it's something like $.40.
