Tennessee Tuxedo's Stanley Livingston Guilty of Animal Abuse - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

If you watched Tennessee Tuxedo, you saw numerous episodes where zookeeper Stanley Livingston is cruel and abusive to Tennessee and Chumley after such crimes as wrecking the zoo train and stealing the wallpaper for his office. Does anyone think he's guilty of animal abuse?

OMG . I thought you meant Stanley Livingston the actor who played Chip on My Three Sons when I first saw your post!!

Glad that's not who you meant. I would not have imagined him to be abusive to animals. He was so good to the family dog , Tramp.

I had to check this out for that reason, too.

I'm not too familiar with the cartoon, so I don't remember the character. All I remember is Don Adams did one of the voices.

There was a scene where Stanley physically kicked Tennessee and Chumley out of his office. Even though it's only a cartoon. It's still considered animal abuse.

Yeah, it's the same kind of thing that caused the uproar with Pepé Le Pew.

In classic cartoons, animals are sometimes on the same level as humans, especially if they talk!

Getting the boot out of an office or building is standard cartoon schtick.

One Top Cat episode used one of his gang, Brain, as collateral! I think it was about getting a used car temporarily. Salesman, to himself, concerning the transaction: “A human sacrifice?” Brain was a cat! In fact it was only in the Top Cat comic books (the less said, the better), where Officer Dibble referred to the gang as cats.

I do think that too much “digging” is being done in this thread!

[I don’t remember that particular TN Tuxedo ep, but in real life, Stanley would *at least* stub his toes, if not worse, kicking obese Chumley!]

I'd say Wile E. Coyote took his fair share of abuse. Unfortunately for him, he caused almost all of it.

The only abuse Wile got from a human was accidental: the spy tossing out his spy kit from his getaway car, striking Wile during his chase!

I guess you could count the unseen truck drivers striking Wile when he hears a beep beep, thinking it was the Roadrunner—but we don’t ever see who the driver is. I think at the very beginning of “Gee Whizzzz”, the driver of the truck is in silhouette. Kinda looked human. *shrug*
