Default Last Of The Summer Wine is the world's longest running comedy

Last Of The Summer Wine has been comisioned for it's 34th series and has now been running since 1972, and so is oficially the world's longest running comedy.

What does anyone think of it?

212 which isn't very many for a show over 20 seasons by OUR standards!

212 is a lot of episodes when you consider that there is only around 14 episodes each year or something like that.

I don't know why you've mentioned standards Sitcomwriter, if you think about it it could be said that a show with fewer episodes would be better than one with hundreds of episodes since it has not run low on ideas.
Fawlty Towers, for example is considered one of the best comadies of all time and only 12 episodes were made.

Probably because there aren't many stations around here that actually air it. I know my PBS station airs Keeping Up Appearances and Are You Being Served, and that's the only Britcoms that I see here.

I love it. I just started watching it a few years ago and it's a really fun show!
I like pretty much everyone in it since they all work together so well.

I would class this ass longest running sitcom, not comedy.

The Benny Hill Show started in 1951 (originally called HI THERE) and ran till around 1991. which is 40 years, so it beats summer wine.
