I dont know if this show has ever been screened in America before but it's basiclly a spoof documentry about the staff of an Office and I read that it is going to be made in America and one of the people who is developing it is the same person who developed Coupling for America.

Enjoy it.....Ricky Gervais has recently said there won't be any more series (although there might be a special). Also it's not meant to be a spoof-documentary, but unusally for Britcoms it doesn't have a laughtrack. For me the humour is so close to real life it's not really a sitcom in the traditional sense - the same as Sex and the City is too lifelike to be a traditional sitcom.

The Office, along with I'm Alan Partridge, is the best British comedy in many years. |

I did dilsike The Office at first but I saw a lot of them over Chrismtmas and I really like it now, it's a shame they're not doing more but I guess it could go bad if they did.
And, yes it is meant to be a spoof documentry- that's the whole format of the show. |

How many series of "The Office" were there because i really love this show & I think we are currently getting series 2.
Also Ricky Gervais was on "Parkinson" about 3 weeks ago and he described "The Office" as a mockumentry. |

Allow all:
I just cought part of the first season of THE OFFICE on my satelite dish and it reminds me of two shows here in the States: Sienfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Love shows that delve into the 'silliness' of our society. ------------ The scene that got me hooked (not necessarily correct but you'll get the jist of the episode I'm talking about): The boss is hiring a new secretary: The boss: *smiling* So tell me a little about your self? The secretary: Well I got my BA in Business and was working for.. The boss: No, boring. No tell me about *makes the shape of a womans body with his hands* yourself... ----------- Why that scene made my husband and I laugh so hard I don't know! The bosses actions and small inuendo's are punns of the average 'man'. He points his finger everytime he talks. He jests at important issues and continues to make an ass of himself without fail! I've got to get to know these characters better (and learn their names on top of it, lol). I will continue to watch, I believe the 2nd season is on in the States every Sunday and promise not to miss one! |
