I have access to Peacock through my cable subscription, and I also have the DVDs of Threes Company, While searching for Wheel Of Fortune and Jeopardy episodes, I checked out the Three’s Company episodes on Peacock, and I found they are only 20 minutes long. Why are they so short there? The same episodes on DVD are between 24 and 25 minutes long.

They get edited, syndicated masters provided for all outlets, pre-prepped to accommodate the standard commercial time for a half-hour program which, these days, is 10-13 minutes per 30 minute show.
Streamers like Tubi usually have mostly uncut shows.. sorta. But they simply will not allow anyone to see all the credits. The platform must jump to the next episode to prevent Pirates (Arrrrghh, me hearties!!) from capturing the entire program. Modern post-broadcast paranoia at its finest. |

I think the dvd is the only way to see the episodes in their entirety.

Someone had mentioned that one of the streaming services recently included the bumpers with John Ritter voiceovers like, "Three's Company will continue in a moment" for most of the seasons. That would be something nice to have on future editions, as well. Gimme A Break! had the mid-show adcap stills with the show's title intact. The Cosby Show (is that still a thing?? Lulz!) Had the mid-show bumpers in the re-releases of the early season(s). And, I think Roseanne had similar material, dinnit? |

I figured I’d shed some light on this issue as it peeves me off as well. The versions on Peacock are the same versions aired on Logo. Logo used to run the credits at the bottom of the screen. Logo is owned by CBS, which owns Nick at Nite. The episodes from Logo have been edited down from the already 22 minute edited versions that aired on Nick at Nite. So the versions from Logo not only play on Peacock, but on Pluto TV, on Plex and on IFC. It’s such a shame. And I think it’s wrong to cut the end credits out. About two years ago, Roku got the original episodes for about three days (except for the missing tag of Ralph’s Rival). They even included Three’s Company bumpers between the last scene and the tag. Season 4 and 5 had an extended shot from the opening of the trio walking toward and past the camera on the boardwalk. Then Roku pulled it. I personally feel if you are paying for a streaming service such as Peacock, they better be ponying up and acquiring the original episodes. Peacock, Pluto, Plex and Tubi all have the spin offs, but those are the syndicated versions with the closing credits. Anyways, end of rant. Preserve your DVDs. Get the Complete Series 40th Anniversary edition that has all of Three’s Co, Ropers, and Crowd uncut (minus the Ralph’s Rival tag).
