Everyone on the CATM set seemed like such a family but after reading Della's book and her version of that awfull night I began to wonder if she and Freddie got along well at all. I know in my original post I gave a possible idea for her misinterpretation of the shooting as her way to deal with the loss, and I hope that's truely the case, but I guess where Freddie is concerned my mind works overtime. I wonder if they were friends?

Joy i remember Della being on the tonight show after Freddie died. Johnny said he was sorry about the loss. Della said something to the effect, he was to young to handle the pressures, and should of gotten out of the business. Johnny changed the subject real quick.

I believe that Della and Freddie were friends. I saw her on t.v. in an interview about Freddie. She said that a day or two before the tragedy, he came to her and was upbeat. He told her that he was going to straighten out and that he was going to show her that he was going to be "a good boy". She said he repeated that several times to her and she told him that she believed him.
Then she followed that with the comments that he was always clowning around on the set and that she thought it was a terrible accident where he meant to play a joke, but it went horribly wrong. |

I always hoped that was a terrible accident, but what bugs me is the note he left behind, that shows it wasn`t an accident. it was in Freddies hand writing. So confusing.
