help me with school! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Ok, I know there have been like a million topics like this before, but I NEED SEVERE HELP! Here's my problem: I am a junior in highschool and I have always gotten excellent grades. For some reason this year I have been having SUCH a hard time studying and getting my homework done after school. I have absolutely NO motivation...but I want to keep getting As...so I need ideas on ways to motivate myself to succeed in school. My grades are beginning to fall and I want to help myself before I dig a hole so deep that I can never get out.....

anyway, my point is: WHAT ARE SOME WAYS TO MOTIVATE MYSELF TO DO HOMEWORK AND STUDY AFTER SCHOOL??

Here's the way I look at it, because I had the same problem in school. I could understand feeling that way during Senioritis, but I felt that way long before then. What I did was ask myself one very important question. Are you gonna study and pass or do you want to stay in this hell hole longer than you have to? If I don't study, I'll fail the class. I won't get a credit and if it was an academic class, I'd have to repeat during the next year. I figured that I might as well do it right the first time and have an easy year during my Senior year.

LOL. I was NEVER motivated, but here are some ideas--

Stay after school one day and explain your situation to your teachers. All teachers know students go through this, but by you taking the time to tell them this, itll make you like responsible and willing to learn. Also, stay after school just to catch up. If you PUT the effort in, odds are the teacher will give you extra credit to help boost your grade..but you gotta have all your other work done!!

Hmm..I dont recommend this LOl.. but what I did when I slacked off, was slack off! I KNEW Id get back into the cycle again after a couple of weeks, and it always did. Just be sure to do your work.. but dont overdo it and stress yourself out. Stress makes you want to just quit it all. Its right before the holidays, so thats also a big factor. The older you get, the more tiresome with school you get. I did what I needed to get by, and got pretty good average grades (mostly B's). I wasnt a "bad" kid and got along with all the teachers and they knew I had it in me to do better, I just never pushed myself. I regret not getting A+'s, but looking back I had a BLAST in high school and wouldntve changed it for anything. I wouldve liked to put more effort in it, but thats not just who I am..and Id probably forget about it a month later. One thing I was always afraid of was going from A's to C's, thats why I liked B's..they were easy to get and easy to maintain. Well..GOOD LUCK!

I'm a freashman, and I'm already beginning to slack... Sometimes I ask myself, "Why bother," but then again, As Jenny said, might as well do it right the first time... wouldn't want to stay in high school forever, that'll be dreadful!
