Default TVLand suprises me

TVLand never really has been famous for its consistency, but I have to say that I'm very pleased to just now notice that they have been airing DVD in order...tonight (this morning, rather) theyre airing episode 157, the next to the last episode. The last episode never was one of my favorites (the western show thingy), but, if they stay inline with the episodes (which I hope they do), we'll be seeing the first episode thursday! I prefer the first three seasons, or two...not sure. I dont like the last season or two where the entire show practically revolves around exclusively, the Petries. I like seeing *all* of the characters. I think it was a combination of all of them that actually made the show a success...

But, who cares, really

This was just a great show!LOL

Just one thing...does anyone else think, in this episode, showing Rob going absolutely berzerk over Richies impending birth, think that DVD over-acted just a *tad* bit...? I mean, really...I've never seen a man really act like that when their wives went into labor...I know Ricky Ricardo did the same thing, but DVD sort of blew him out of the water, continuing it on to thinking Richie wasnt even his. This would have qualified a rel person as 150% neurotic and "help" would have been forced upon him...! I think it was a bit much, even for a sitcom. I dont think the guys should have been represented as bumbling, neurotic dopes. It makes *me* nervous watching it. Do you suppose that was the goal?

I think one of the reasons they made him out to be a "dope" in the episode 'That's My Boy' was because of the rest of the plot. I guess they were trying to shed light on the fact that a black couple were going to play the Peters. I remember watching Inside TVLand, and one of the directors said that it wasn't anything racial because Rob Petrie was the one who was going to look like a fool. It seems insane today but back then something like that was considered somewhat risque.

As far as him being neurotic in 'Where Did I Come From?'......well, Iguess it was just to add to the comedy.

I think MTM1Fan hit it on the nose about "Where Did I Come From?" Rob's nervousness allowed Dick to do some GREAT physical comedy, which Dick has always enjoyed doing. Personally it's always been one of my favorite episodes, especially the part about Rob dropping the phone down his (or rather Buddy's) pants!
