A major voice in rock music from the 1970s has died.

Dash Crofts, one half of the music duo Seals and Crofts, died Wednesday at the age of 87.

Family members told TMZ that Crofts died from complications following a recent heart surgery.

Crofts’ death was first announced on Facebook by longtime music producer Louie Shelton.

“Sad to hear our dear brother and partner in music has passed away today. Sending love and prayers to all his family and many fans. R.I.P. my brother,” the post reads.

Born Darrell Crofts, the musician was best known for hit songs like “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl” and “Get Closer” along with his partner Jim Seals, who died in 2022.

The duo released several albums through the 1970s, with their 1972 album “Summer Breeze,” featuring the eponymous song, going double-platinum.

Wasn't Seals And Crofts that group that sang Diamond Girl? That song with the lyrics:
Diamond Girl,
You sure do shine,
Glad I found you,
Glad you're mine,
My aunt used to have Seals and Crofts records as a teenager and Diamond Girl was a song she loved

Yes. Diamond girl, Summer Breeze, We may never pass this way again, Hummingbird . So many beautiful songs by Seals and Crofts .

So sad to hear of his passing.

Dash was a great singer. Seals and Crofts were a really good soft rock band, one of my favorites.

May he rest in peace.

From the late 70s, a lesser-known song, "My Fair Share." And their theme to the late 70s CBS TV drama, "The Paper Chase." - "The First Years."
