Most of you probably know this, but the actor who portrays Captain Jack on this episode, also portrayed Ward's Uncle Billy in later episodes. He was also Uncle Joe on Petticoat Junction.

Isn't it strange how some shows reuse actors in different characters? It's kind of fun to point out those facts.

Most shows which ran long at all seemed to do this; especially in the 50's and 60's when a TV series made so many more episodes in a season.
I was inclined to think LITB did not use the same actors for different roles as much as other shows, but as I read this thread I'm not certain, since I can think of 6 right off the bat... Edgar Buchanon-- Captain Jack and Uncle Billy. Frank Wilcox-- the judge in "State v. Beaver;" and Dr. Harrison, the dentist, in "The Tooth." Cheryl Holdridge-- Gloria in "Wally's Pug Nose," and later as Julie Foster. Bartlett Robinson-- George Compton, the lawyer, in "Beaver, the Model;" and Mr. Hill, the lot owner, in "The Yard Birds." Wendell Holmes-- Mr. Willitt, the teacher and assistant principal at Beaver's school, and as Andy in "Beaver and Andy." and Pamela Beaird, who played Mary Ellen Rogers through much of the series, but near the middle played a different role, Myra, in "Wally's Orchid." |

Before "Petticoat Junction," Edgar "Uncle Billy" Buchanan was a well known character actor in movies. I believe he plays a villain, a corrupt mayor, in the 50s version of the movie "Destry Rides Again."

tdr: Yes, a lot of shows did that - Andy Griffith, for instance, was one in which certain actors appeared in several roles.
You know, I hadn't even thought about the same actor portraying the characters of both Mr. Willitt and Andy.

I never even noticed before today that the girl who played 'Penny' in "Wally's Girl Trouble"was a younger version of the one who played Alma Hanson in at least 2 later eps. I looked her, Carol Sydes, up in imdb.com and she actually played 4 different characters in LITB. Besides Penny and Alma, she played 'Nita Norton' in "Wally's Test," and 'Helen' [uncredited] in "School Sweater." But she did little else in film or TV besides LITB.
