Fox has renewed its freshman series "Best Medicine" with a 12-episode second season for 2026-27. The news comes as no surprise.

"Best Medicine‘s" premiere delivered 12.6 million total multi-platform viewers, ranking among broadcast’s Top 2 highest-rated drama debuts this season among Adults 18-49, alongside fellow Fox freshman drama series "Memory of a Killer", starring Patrick Dempsey, whose renewal also is fully expected.

What’s more, with its time period premiere, "Best Medicine", which launched behind an NFL game, became the only scripted series this season to grow from its debut to its second episode in total viewers.

"Best Medicine" Season 2 Order Increased as Series Sets Fall Return on Fox

Season 1 of Fox‘s "Best Medicine" launched in January but fans won’t need to wait until next January for Season 2.

The network this morning unveiled its fall 2026 schedule, and "Best Medicine" is on it, once again paired with fellow medical drama Doc on Tuesdays for what Fox’s head of scheduling Dan Harrison called “a night of medical marvels.”

During a pre-upfront call on Sunday, Harrison also revealed that "Best Medicine" will produce 14 episodes next season. That is up from 13 the show delivered in Season 1 and also higher than the 12-episode Season 2 order Fox announced at the time of the renewal in March.

That is significant because Fox expanded its scripted portfolio for next season, adding two drama series, "Baywatch" and "The Interrogator" while cancelling only one comedy, "Going Dutch", so there isn’t much room to do more episodes.
