Was Jessica Simpson originally gonna be a Christian artist?

On Jessica Simpson's 1999 debut Sweet Kisses I noticed that she had songs that were Christian oriented with titles such as Your Faith In Me and My Wonderful and it makes me think that Jessica Simpson was originally gonna sing Christian music. Was she trying to also appeal to the Christian audience as well?

There appears to be a common theme in many pop songs, as well as in CCM, where often a songwriter will employ a "God=girlfriend/boyfriend) scenario in the lyrics. The wondrous nature of love becomes equated with religious or spiritual ecstasy. This makes the song have more universal appeal without wanting to feel "preachy". This device has been used for decades. Also, many CCM artists make their pitches for God or Christ have a multiple meaning as a love song for a wife/husband or significant other.

There were rumors back in the day that Jessica Simpson may have come from a Christian family, or had those leanings, being born in the Bible Belt. I'll have to look that up. Many female artists have been cited as Christians, though they have later distanced, or "deconstructed", from it. Katy Perry started out as a blonde singer in her younger days who wanted to evangelize. Amy Lee of Evanescence was thought to be Christian artist simply because her band was reportedly formed from a church youth group, but she later disavowed herself from such identification.
