I guess this would fall a little under the "you know you're addicted to HD" topic as well. Has anyone eaten there?
I eat there every weekend because it's about the closest you can get to experiecing the original HD time period (50's). For anyone who hasn't been there the restaurant is designed to look like an old soda shop. They have jukeboxes at all the the tables like at Arnold's (original) and the waiters/ waitresses dressed up in the old outfits w/caps. Moslty oldies music plays, exept for a couple of 70's stunes they have in the jukebox as selections foe whatever reasons. The food is authentic. You can actually get a REAL shake or malt, w/the extra silver cup for the leftover icecream. Sodas w/flavored syrups if you want. You haven't had REAL cherry coke until you've tried on of these. The "pile of fires' like you'd see on HD. It's al ittle pricy (expect to pay about $8-$10 for a full meal) and there is usually a line but it's really cool. |

They have a website http://www.johnnyrockets.com
So for anyone who has never been there, you can find out if there is one by you. They also tend to be in the bigger malls. As far as being born in the wrong time period, I honestly don't know. It would be nice to see what it was really like. You know what they say though, "the grass is always greener on the other side." You look at HD (made in the 70's about the 50's) and say "cool". Then you look at at say "Leave it to Beaver" (actually made in the 50's) and it's not so cool anymore. I respect my parents and all but can you imagine everytime you talked to your dad "yes, sir" "no, sir". There's a pretty wide gap between the two. I wonder which was more accurate. |

The only Johnny Rockets around me is at the mall, and it's in the food court so it's not very big. But it's my favorite eating place in the mall. It's so 50's. I love it! Another place like it is 'Ruby's Diner'. Plus locally in town we have 'Chase's Diner'. Both places are 50's decor.

Have you been there when the waiters and waitresses dance to a song? They just break out into something, for us, they did "RESPECT" It was great!

As far as I know they do it for certain songs but I don't know which. I guess "Respect" is one.
