Question Original Opening...

How come Disney doesn't use the original opening?

I've always wondered the same thing. I catch a few episodes every now and then and they have the newer opening where they are all teenagers even when they are still kids in the actual episodes. It's kind of weird.

I don't think I've ever seen the original opening. What's it like?

I've not seen it since it was new, but I remember Cory dancing in front of a white background. A big baseball floats by, so do rulers, apples, baseball bats, and other things. It plays the music that is in the ending credits of season one. I remember that scene from the first episode in which Cory is in detention and gets up and starts dancing, I think that was in there. But I last saw that opening in 1994. Season 2 didn't have an opening credits with actor names, it was an animated Cory with sunglasses on. A globe rolls by and Cory stops it with his foot and turns towards us, giving the audience a thumbs up. Season 3, was music with a montage of clips tinted in green and I think red. Season 4 is the one that they show for the first 4 seasons on Disney.

Default Opening credits

The one that was used in the last few years, with Angela, Jack, and Rachel included. That one had words When This boy meets world, was that, Shawn, Topanga, Eric, and Cory singing it? It sounds like it could have been them singing that song.

I was wondering this too..When it was airing on the WB, they never showed the orginal opening. I guess it probably has something to do with syndication

I hate how they use the newer opening for the old ones...why does it matter on Disney? They own ABC, who aired the show originally. Weird.. -JM

I don't recall the opening from season 3, but do remember every other season opening.. So, season 3 was basically clips from the first two seasons with the actors' names on the bottom of the screen?

Disney does show every opening for Sister, Sister and it aired on the WB.. I think Disney might own that, too

Default Season 3

Season 3's theme is just photos of Cory, Shawn & Eric for about 10 seconds. They run the credits over the opening scenes as they do from season 2 onward. I know this because the Disney channel in Australia still show the original themes for all seasons.

Brazilian Disney Channel also shows every opening credits according to the seasons, but when it comes to seasons 5, 6 and 7, they have changed that. The song "When This Boy Meets World" doesn't have lyrics here, I just found out that it had lyrics when I downloaded the song on Kazaa, and the images are different...
Well...Whatever...

Default one possible reason

There are a couple reasons why the openings could have changed over time. As for the first change in openings, the difference between the opening when BMW was aired on ABC and the Disney, it probably had something do to with copyright policies. As for the second change within the time BMW was aired on Disney, the change from the car opening to the one where Cory, Topanga, Eric, Shawn, etc are all dancing in the street and a bucket of water is poured over a balcony, is probably an attempt to introduce the characters in a way that more accurately reflects their ages and prominant characters in the later episodes.

I am not entirely sure, but someone told me it's because the opening credits for the first season last more than one minute, and due to time constraints Disney just uses a different opening.

I'd say that's a pretty good guess.

Me 2. They do this on The Golden Girls, I think Lifetime does it on TGG too. You know what I mean? But they always show the actresses names during the credits, not like BMW does theirs, I mean by putting the names on during the credits.

That would be right for season 1 but the 2nd and 3rd openings are extremely short and probably much shorter than the later ones.
