Episode Reviews - "The Younger Brother" - season 5
Ward encourages Beaver to try out for Park League basketball, which he does. The coach recognizes the Cleaver name, from Wally's fine play. Unfortunately, Beaver does not do well, and can't bring himself to tell the family he didn't make the team.
Ward stops by to watch Beaver practice, and has Fred with him. The coach informs Ward, with Fred listening, that Beaver was dropped from the team. Ward drives in as Beaver is telling Wally he was dropped. Beaver panics, thinking Ward knows. Ward goes in, and tells June about his discovery. Wally enters, and asks Ward to take it easy on Beaver. Beaver has been listening from out of sight, and appears. Ward tells him there is no shame in not having Wally's basketball talent. |
