Default Episode February 13, 1991

I have been trying to find this info for awhile now and just found this site so I thought I'd try here. It was the story of a nurse who had supposedly been stalked and harassed for a number of years. I think the police believed she may have been mentally ill and doing it to herself. She was ultimately found dead under bizarre circumstances. Anyway, I had the book of the whole story but have been unable to find it after a move.

Does anyone happen to remember the woman's name? I thought if I had it I might be able to track down the book somewhere.

Thanks.

Her name is Cindy James. I have a book about the case by Neal Hall, who was interviewed for the segment. The book is called The Deaths of Cindy James.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much Alyssa! I've been very curious to read the story again and I'm sure I'll be able to track down a copy now.
Thanks again!

Oh yes....the Cindy James story. That is one of the few Unsolved Mysteries stories that really interested me for some reason.

I got the book "The deaths of Cindy James" a couple years ago. It's pretty good if you want to freak yourself out. And it gives SOOOOOOOOO many details that the UM segment left out. For example, the one scene where Cindy was found unconsious (but alive) on her hallway floor with a note pinned to a parry knife that was stabbed in her hand? I remember yelling at the TV saying "Why don't you tell us what the note said?!?!?!?!? After reading the book, I finally knew what it said and understood that it was too obscene to be shown on TV.

The last several years of Cindy's life are so bizarre that your mind wonders at ALL of the possible things that could have happened. So many signs point out that she really was being stalked and tortured for so long yet it's pretty weird that with all the security she got, a suspect was never caught. NOTHING. And whenever the police would ask her about her attacks, she never gave the full story and left out details.

Her death scene was more confusing than anything. I can't believe that a person would be able to inject herself with so many morphine drugs and actually bound her hands and feet together behind her back while strangling herself with a nylon stocking. Her body obviously looked like it had been dumped in the yard of that abandonned house, SOMEBODY obviously had to have dumped her there, yet the police assume it MUST be suicide.

I wonder do you still share this opinion? I just googled her name and found this thread on SO.

Yeah, pretty much. I've read both books about her and I plan on buying the 3rd book written by Cindy's sister Melanie whenever it finally comes out.

Cindy's case is rare with so many facts to defend both sides that it's makes your head spin. It's probably the most complex case ever featured on Unsolved Mysteries.
