to know when did Jo meet Willis????
She mentioned his name like they were around each other in the past. At this time it was only 4 crossovers between DS and FOL and the Jo character didnt exist yet. So how would she know who wilis when that was their first time being around each otherRough Housing.......Jo didnt exist yet The Girls School.....Jo didnt exist yt Bank Job-Only Tootie on DS The Slumber Party....Jo Didnt exist yet These are the only crossovers during the JO ERA and she was never around Arnold or Willis. Plus she was the only girl out of the 4 to never appear on DS. New Girl......Only Arnold on FOL Older Man......Only Blair and Natalie on DS First Day Blues....Only Tootie on DS The Team..............Only Tootie on DS.....last crossover |

Maybe they knew one another from times you didn't see them on the screen.

In the episode "Bought and Sold" (Season 2, Episode 13), it is a known continuity oversight that Jo Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon) acts as if she already knows Willis Jackson (Todd Bridges).
While you are correct that Jo was not present for the early crossovers and had never appeared on Diff'rent Strokes, the show creators likely relied on the "universe" connection rather than strict timeline logic. Here is the breakdown of why this occurred: Implied Off-Screen History: Because The Facts of Life was a spin-off of Diff'rent Strokes, the writers often treated the characters as though they were already part of the same extended social circle through Mrs. Garrett. In "Bought and Sold," Willis visits Eastland Academy to deliver cosmetics to Blair, and the dialogue implies a level of familiarity that was never established on screen for Jo. The "Core Four" Assumption: Once the show shifted to the "core four" girls in Season 2, the writers occasionally wrote scenes as if the entire group had shared experiences, even though Jo joined later than Blair, Tootie, and Natalie. A "Pointless Cameo" Logic: Recaps often describe Willis’s appearance in this specific episode as a "pointless cameo" designed more for ratings and the crossover appeal of the two hit shows than for narrative consistency. Essentially, there is no specific on-screen moment where Jo and Willis met prior to this. It remains one of the show's most famous continuity "goofs" regarding the crossover timeline. |

Try to watch 1960s-80s shows compared to modern shows and the discontinuities from episode to episode stick out as a sore thumb does.
