In an episode written by Connelly and Mosher, we have a plot twist for a change . For once, Beaver could get in trouble, but doesn't.
He and his friends, Richard snd Gilbert, are debating how to mess around after school. They finally decide to hang out at an abandoned old house, but Beaver decides to go home. Richard tries to finish the job of breaking a window, and succeeds -- just as a cop is driving by. The cop chases the boys -- Gilbert escapes, but the cop catches Richard, who identifies himself as Beaver. The cop and his superior, played by veteran actor Alan Hewitt, visit the Cleavers and discover the discrepancy when Beaver appears. One writing slip-up has Ward calling Beaver downstairs, and the cop not questioning the name discrepancy (Richard having identified himself as Theodore). How might this episode have differed in the modern day of internet and smartphones? |
