Is anyone else tired of seeing the Matthew Mcnaughey segment (About the pedohpile who shot the marine in the street as his mom watched)? This tragic case has been solved for almost ten years but they're still inserting it into the new episodes for some reason (would they if Mconaughey had never starred in A time to Kill???).
I can't understand why UM replays the same solved cases over and over and over again, when they have so many unsolved ones that hardly see the primetime light of day anymore. I mean I thought this show was in part suuposed to be a service to the community (as Amercia most wanted is), but how are they serving the community when they are replaying stories about a family of seven children- who were all reunited SEVEN years ago? There are so many missing children and unidentified corpses out there that can no longer fight for themselves and here they are replaying some silly segment about a possible lost treasure that was buried in old LA around the Civil War time. I really don't know what those producers are thinking.

Ironically though, there are a lot of updates that are long overdue on being updated. One in particular is segment on the 1991 disappearance of Colleen Reed, who was abducted from a Texas car wash. The update they show mentions that a man named Kenneth Allen McDuff was captured, tried, convicted, and sentenced to death for Colleen's murder, even though her body hadn't been found. It stops at saying that McDuff was on death row, appealing the conviction (or something to that effect). Well, that update needs to be updated, and here's why: Colleen Reed's remains were recovered (as well as the remains of two other women that McDuff was suspected of killing, but was never charged in those deaths) in October of 1998. (It was claimed that McDuff led the authorities to Reed's remains in a deal to reduce a jail sentence for a nephew who was convicted of selling drugs.) One month later, on November 17, 1998, McDuff was executed by lethal injection. |

Yes, I agree with you about the updates. They sometimes say "we'll bring you more information on a future broadcast", but don't follow through.
Wasn't that case solved about the little girl who disappeared after a tornonado in the 1940's? I think her name was Joan Gay something? Do you remember that one and if she was found safe (and why those two men took her away)? Do you know of any other cases that have been solved (or have had breaks) but updates haven't been televised? I don't understand why UM doesn't update their updates more often, either.

![]() As for the UM updates in general, some of them have actually been updated further when shown in the episodes that have the old segments intermixed with new segments. |

Speaking of updates, UM needs to update it's contact information. I find it funny that they still show the p.o. box at the end of every show, what with the INTERNET and everything. Whose going to want to send such time sensitive material by snail mail? It's like, by the time you read this my murderous neighbor will have probably fled...

I think a lot of people's first inclination would be to search for it online, and the official site is pretty easy to find I think in the search engines. |

I felt the same way about the SPIKE stuff, like Elvis case. There are a lot of cases and it's a shame they wasted time. If you're going to do that, play MORE episodes more often so people can find out about the unsolved cases.
But considering they won't even play crappy Farina anymore, well....moot point. |

I always felt like the new additions to Farina UM could have been him doing segments about updates. That should have been far less expensive than making new episodes. Just show the Farina-dubbed episode (or, better yet, the Stack version) and then have Farina do a Keely Shaye Smith-ish update segment.
