All in the Family vocal theme or Archie Bunker's Place Instrumental theme?
I know they are basically the same thing, only one is vocal and the other is instrumental. I love the ABP theme. I like the AITF theme too, but it just sounds so good instrumental. |

This is just my opinion, but I'd have to say I like the instrumental the best, I think it has that sentimental harmony, and has a lively rythm, it has that classic sound, much like a jazzy feel, which sounds very good, clashing with a a variation of instruments.
Although I like the AIF song, I prefer the instrumental, I also like the lyrics of the song, which sounds good also. |

From a pure musical standpoint, the instrumental is better. It was good they kept "Those were the Days" as the theme song, and also the only appropriate method to open the show after Jean Stapleton left (they couldn't have Archie at the piano with Stephanie or Murray). But my vote would be for the Archie and Edith opening theme simply because it led into the best episodes of the series.

I personally like the version of "Those Were The Days" that was used on ABP. I like it because, even though when Carroll O'Connor and Jean Stapleton sung it, it was classic but sometimes it can get on your nerves.

I really liked the Instrumental version better, Plus I loved how they showed various scenes from Astoria or neighboring sections of Queens.
I thought they fit nicely with the music.
