Exclamation IMO, I think TNN should go back to The Nashville Network instead of The National Net.

Okay, as of today (except for American Gladiators and MAYBE star trek) I cannot nomore stand The New TNN.

I wish it were the previous TNN because I actually liked The Dukes of Hazzard, Alice, and some other cool shows.

My mom wants it back because she wants Aleene's Creative Living back. It went to Odyssey before it switched to The Hallmark Channel.

All I know is....

BRING BACK THE NASHVILLE NETWORK, THE RIGHT TNN!

Thank goodness TNN changed to The National Network. There's just so much Bass fishing, Rodeo and country music a person can stand. And for me that wasn't much!

I agree on that, but I miss the actual programming. Up until mid 2001, TNN still aired Starsky and Hutch (which could still fit on The National Network, IMO) and Dukes of Hazzard. It's just a shame at what TNN turned into, they were unique, original and stood out to begin with, why fix something that is not broken?

Where is that rant button? I'm gonna need it for this post.

Two good things about the new way they handle TNN

1) They have the Star Trek movie marathon this month. Every Sat. for this month they show the original Star Trek movies. They won't show 1 or 6, but they have shown 2 and 3. 4 will be tomorrow and 5 next week.

2) If Star Trek should leave Scifi, TNN might pick up the show.

The bad things about the way they handle TNN

1) TNN commericials- Anybody sick of seeing Jesse? One of my friends and I were talking about those dumb Jesse ads. They aren't funny. Yes, I'm the kind of gal that loves bathroom jokes, fart jokes, etc- so please don't post back and tell me to get off my high horse and learn to laugh at things like that. Believe me, I already laugh at jokes like that. It's just the ads are so irritating, and they seem to show them so many times.

2) Nothing else worth watching- If they do acquire the original Star Trek series, that will be something worth watching. However, I just don't dig the other shows that come on the channel.

3) The edit jobs- The old TNN used to do an okay job on edits. I don't remember them cutting to a commericial in the middle of someone talking. Too many commericials. I swear, I watched those Star Trek movies and it seems like they show 15 minutes of the movie and go to a commericial, 15 more minutes of movie and some more commericials, etc.

Default TNN: From Country to Filth in Three Easy Steps

I agree that the National Network is inferior to the Nashville Network. The reason I say this is, because, the current state of the network offers up sex-laden programming, including, the inane and has to go Jesse TNN ads. At least when the network was Nashville Network, the programming was clean. Granted, the viewership might have been aimed at small town people, but I would prefer that any day, over the perpetual bikini parade that marches forth across the screen almost daily. Whether it be in the wrestling ring or in the commercials, the old adage that sex sells, seems to permeate every fiber of their schedule. Do not get me wrong, I like to see a pretty girl the same as the next guy, but to be continuously inundated with it, is too much, even for me. And the aforementioned Jesse ads, while sinking to bodily function humor levels, is anything but funny, and if anything, downright annoying as hell.

I must admit at first, I was pleased with the the new network, when Different Strokes and Three's Company joined the lineup; however, slowly but surely, any semblance of enjoyable programming has flown the proverbial coop. I long for the days of "Dukes Of Hazzard," "Alice," and "Starsky and Hutch."

I wish it would go back to it's old identity. The Nashville Network was one of the first succesful cable channels back in the early 80s, at least that is what I've read. Now TNN just plain sucks lol. The Nashville Network had a few good shows before it changed - "Alice", "The Real McCoys", "Alice", "Dallas", and "The Dukes of Hazzard". And then when it changed it still had some good shows on it - "WKRP in Cincinnati", "Starsky & Hutch", "Newhart", "Taxi" and "The Wonder Years". Then it had a period of sucking really bad, until Febuary when they picked up "Three's Company" and "Diff'rent Strokes". Now they're back to being bad. And another thing . . .

Geez, I completely forgot about the black bar in my rant. You can add that to my list of bad things. If they made the bar into just a tiny little strip, I wouldn't mind it as much. When you have it that big, it's just plain out irritating.

One thing that pisses me off about the new TNN is all these damn Pamela Anderson Lee things. Oh watch Pamela Lee Anderson ALL DAY THANKSGIVING etc. Like, who wants to see PLA read to kids and bend over and impress men? If you want something like that, watch the Playboy channel or MTV! And I hate that star trek commercial where the two guys are in the room and the guy points to that star trek girl and says "would you" as in "would you **** her?" That is just sick. Of course I like sex and all but they go way over the edge.

And yes about the black bar, I hate their CSI advertisments at the bottom, the animated bar at the bottom is VERY distracting. TNN Needs Skills very badly. Like, when if for example, The Weakest Link aired, you could barely see the clock at the bottom. Well my dad has to make a call and I gotta get offline so I'll complain more in like ten minutes.

I think just about everyone hates what TNN has turned in to. As I said before, a once unique channel, is now down the tubes, and it died, IMO, the day Three's Company left. I mean, absolutely NO sitcoms. TNN was always the one place to find great country shows, Dukes, Starsky, Dallas, Alice (Well, yeah, it aired on TBS and E!), Real McCoys and of course Waltons. Now, it'd probably take a miracle to get them on the air again. Nick at Nite severely jumped the boat with the modern tv hits. They had so many options (Gimme a Break, Perfect Strangers, Empty Nest, Alice, Too Close for Comfort, Good Times, Too Close for Comfort, One Day at a Time, Silver Spoons, What's Happening, etc.) Yea, a few of those shows aired in specials, but still...

I'm pretty ticked at both Nick @ Nite and TNN. I can't even look at them the same way anymore, you know? They're just so different, and when they changed, IMO, it wasn't for the better. I always remember NaN marathons being so much better than this Charles in Charge one. I mean, Scott Baio could at least talk a little about the show, instead of having women fall all over him. Nick at Nite used to be way better. Even all the promos suck. Everytime I see one, I just roll my eyes at how stupid they are. The recent Halloween one with the Jeffersons and Brady Bunch. Even that promo was dumbed up. Do you smell cabbage? The horses underwear, or whatever. LOL, I mean, really. And I found it very interesting that for the Halloween special promo, they only really focused on CLASSIC hits, Jeffersons and The Brady Bunch, with a glimmer of Cosby Show. Again, see, they used the Classic shows to try and pull in an audience, even though the Cosby Show does well.

I think what Nick at Nite should have done was stick to early-mid 80s hits (like the ones I listed above), and Viacom should've put the new modern hits on TNN. That would have been a better idea.

I loved TNN the best during this past August when they aired Diff'rent Strokes, Three's Company, and then another hour of Diff'rent Strokes. It was my morning lineup and one of the only channels I receive that actually shows classic sitcoms. Now all I have is Hallmark, but all they do is air are those damn Hillbillies and I've seen IDOJ and Bewiitched so many times that I don't even like them all that much anymore. TNN seriously needs to clean up their act and go back to the way they were.

Okay, I know I'm quoting Nate but I've got things to say about the recent posts that came up. I'm quite a firehead when it comes to TNN and some of the crap it does. That 'would ya' commericial aired so many damn times during the ST movies. It is sick.

*snickers* Pamela is known for boobs. Do you think she'll ever win an award for her acting? It's hilarious to me they have so many Pam Anderson specials because she isn't that great of an actress.

Let me just agree to Shawn's post. Seriously, when I was a kid I used to watch Nick at Nite so much. See, when I was younger I loved Beavis and Butthead. Now, that isn't the best thing for an 8 year to watch and my parents forbid me from watching B & B. I'd kind of sneak watch B & B by watching it with the volume run down really low and flipping it to Nick @ Nite whenever mom or dad came into the room. That really made me start liking N @ N. It showed cool shows. It showed a little bit of variety. I didn't have 2 1/2 hours of crap shoved down my throat. Now that I'm 18, it's just gone so far down hill. I only watch Archie over there now. It's ******** to mess with something that isn't broken. It's just dumb.

Chris, oh I agree with you about the Hillbillies. You don't get TVL, right? Would you believe they show 5 episodes of BH everyday? Seriously, I understand that we have some BH fans on here and I'm cool with that. You watch whatever you want and I watch whatever I want. However, 5 episodes is just too much. If they cut it down to 2 episodes, I wouldn't mind as much. I'm wondering if the diehard BH fans feel the same way about cutting down on the airings? Seriously, even the diehard fans are gonna get sick of it. It might be so cool to watch the Hillbillies 5 times a day, but it will get tiresome.

I know a person could like a show, but to have it on too many times is kind of a kiss of death. Let's say I loved 'The Cosby Show'- I'd be sick of it now. I would absolutely be sick of it because it's shown so many times on N @ N.

I want to prove something to those that read my message and think, I bet she wouldn't feel the same way if we were talking about one of her favorite shows. I'll take 'The Twilight Zone' on Scifi for example. TZ comes on for an hour at noon and at hour at midnight. I'm not saying take TZ off completely. Leave the noon airing. Show something else at midnight. Look at all the stuff that Scifi had that doesn't play anymore. I wish they would show 'Night Gallery' again. Yeah, NG wasn't as good as TZ but it's something different. Show Star Trek at midnight. I think Scifi is just about to dump ST because it was on their schedule starting back Dec. 16th and now it's gone. I don't know. Maybe it's for holiday schedules.

OMG...I looked ahead on my satellite guide a couple days ago to see what the NG ep was, and they're showing freaking Mike Hammer.

I haven't gotten thru one tape for you and they show Mike Hammer??? Grr...

Okay, so that had nothing to do with TNN, but I haven't watched that in years.

It's probably for the holidays. They're doing the same thing with Dark Shadows - after next week they're nots howing it except for the week of Dec 16-20. Normal schedules are going to resume by January 6th.

N@N used to be great, but to me it started to mess up when the Unrealathon started. Before they started that marathon, they had a mix of shows - The Beverly Hillbillies, I Love Lucy, Gilligan's Island, Three's Company, The Brady Bunch, Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, All in the Family, The Jeffersons, The Andy Griffith Show, and Laverne & Shirley. I especially liked how they had Revenge of the '80s Sundays for a few weeks. But then they dropped most of their shows. Before they shows were, at the most, shown 3 times a night. Then they started airing Cheers 4 times a night. And then The Cosby Show four times a night, leaving little room in N@N Primetime for any other shows.

Adding some shows to the schedule is a good idea, but first of all, they shouldn't be cutting down on the shows they've already cut down on, they should cut down on the shows that have an [b]excess[/i] of airings. And if they're going to bring in shows, they should bring in some that aren't rerun to death on TV Land, and shows that aren't even sitcoms! Kids Say the Darndest Things probably isn't even classified by anyone as a modern TV classic.

The thing I hate about what has happened to Sci Fi and TNN is that they bring in newer and newer shows, newer shows that suck, at least in my opinion. There are a few classic Sci Fi shows Sci Fi could pick up. And how they squash the credits is terrible! I'm not even going to start on TNN again.

TV Land is a lot better then it's counterparts, though they could cut down on multiple airings of certain shows such as Happy Days and The Brady Bunch. They have a lot of shows in their vaults, and they should take out some lesser seen ones, even if it is just for a once a week airing.

Hallmark changes from time to time from being a good channel, to a very good channel, to a good channel again. I wish ALF was on every day isntead of just Saturdays and that Hart to Hart and The Facts of Life would come back.

Thanks anyway Cathy. I think Columbia House has NG (entire series out) on tape. I bet I can convince my parents to get them for me. Just leave some very obvious clues around the house and they might get the idea. lol

Thanks for trying Cathy.
