Thank you Joy, for the kind words. They mean so much. You should really give writing a try. There are times when writing this story seems so incredibly easy..it just happens without thinking about it, but then there are times when I want to scrap it and never do it again. But it's so rewarding...thanks to everyone who reads it. I have a feeling that Freddie thinks it's pretty good too...I hope. LOL!!!!!!

It's an interesting take on Chico. The tv Chico would've never gotten a girl pregnat without being married to her first & on the show his mom was already dead. So it's interesting to see a different take on the character...

One of the things I thought about long and hard before I started this story was...
Do I want it to be just like the show?
My thought was that we can watch CATM on t.v. and tape any time we wanted to. I wanted this to be an entirely different look at Chico. As for the pregnancy and other stuff..You have to realize, this was the 70's and things were different. Young people are faced with a multitude of challenges and obstacles...even today, not just back then. I wanted to portray the "real" things that young adults face. And still have it placed in a fictional setting. I guess what I'm trying to say is this...I wanted a story that was as realistic to the reader as I could get but still have it be about fictional characters.

Just wanted to comment on "The Barrio" story.
It is getting better and better with each new
installment. Thanks Chicosladyfair for all
your hard work. By the way, I just have to
say that I never thought that the Chico on
TV and the Chico in this story were ever the
same person. I realized that in the first
chapter. Thanks for writing a realistic view
on life and keep up the wonderful work. Your
efforts I'm sure are appreciated by everyone on this board.
