Former Dallas Cowboys football player Don Meredith had an interesting career in the NFL but outside of football a little known fact about Don Meredith was that he became the spokesman for Lipton Tea in the commercials. These commercials debuted in the 70's and continued until 1986/87. How Don Meredith got the job as spokesman for Lipton Tea commercials I do not know. But he also was paired with other celebrities most notably weatherman Willard Scott. Don Meredith retired as spokesman for Lipton Tea commercials in 1987 but I guess Lipton must've offered Don a lot of money and a huge cash bonus for doing these commercials

I think to be honest why Don Meredith became spokesman for Lipton Tea was because I think Lipton Tea had offered Don Meredith a giant deal to do their commercials and when you have sports stars as commercial spokesmen when retire from the sport they know that commercials give them more fame. And for Don Meredith Lipton Tea gave him the fame he needed
