Smile Freddie's religion

Does anyone have any idea what religion Freddie was raised in? I thought it was the Catholic Faith but I`m not sure.

Sad

He was raised in the Catholic religion. His father was jew, but he didn't follow any religion at all. Both Fred and his mother went a little apart of the church because of the hypocresy around the church people inside. Fred once told his mother that he got "kicked out" of a Catholic church in Hollywood because he was wearing some jeans and a shirt instead of formal wear...you know, those thing happens, even with me!!

Yeah, I'd read that about him getting kicked out of the church in his moms book. Didn't realize he had on jeans tho. From what I read somewhere else it talked like he had on a suit with no tie. Either way it was sad he got kicked out of the church & turned away. His mom talked like that disilisioned him but his Mom told him don't be disilusioned but instead find a better church.

From reading stuff him & his mom said I got the impression that both he & his mom were Christians. Didn't realize they went to Catholic church altho I did read in I think his Moms book where when he weas a kid he went to Catholic church alot but went to a Lutheran School... From reading his Mom's book it talked like he read the Bible & prayed alot & wrote in his Bible alot. Think he got buried with his Bible. His Mom talked like the Bible was well worn. His mom must've had some Protestant leanings cuz in the book she talks about how she like Oral Roberts & had them pray over Freddie's asthma problem & he later got healed of it & she also talks about like the preacher Robert Schuller & I think he came to the funeral. I think Oral Roberts is Pentecostal & Schuller is Presbyterian... I think in the book it says Freddies dad was Jewish... Kathy Parents were Southern Baptists...

Maybe he should've gone to a Presbyterian church. That's where my hubby & I go & they aren't all hung up on how ya dress or real legalistic. I think Freddie would've liked it!

Hope this helps!

Did you guys also read in the book about Freddie that he had serious thoughts about becoming a minister? He had told a couple of people about this, including his Mom. So I guess he leaned more towards Protestant or Lutheran. Too bad Freddie never got involved in a church in Hollywood, maybe they could have helped him, but it would have been rough for him, since he was famous.

there's one thing I'm concerned about, I want to ask for opinons but I don't want to start any religious debates or upset anyone but I really want some of your ideas and opinons so here goes.
As a christian I follow the 10 commandments.
the one thou shalt not kill- Is suicide considered murder since your taking a life?
If so I'd hate to think of Freddie you knoww.. after living such a seemingly toetured life and trying to find peace to end up...
And there are points too.
What about when Maria prayed for Freddie in the hospital and said God loves you and saved you and Freddie squeezed her hand.
Maybe he was reaching out to God and he is safe in Heaven,
What do you all think?

I don't want to start a debate either but, if you follow the bible "You are not suppose to commit suicide" Plain and simple........ I have followed GOD'S teachings and I live by these words....... If I'm in trouble or troubled I open my bible and read it's passages. As you read the bible you get the help from there. Freddie did have a bible and he wrote notes in it. He knew that he should go there when troubled. Something happened along the way that steered him to the lake of fire. Anyway these are my feelings. Please lets not start a debate..... - Rest in Peace Freddie................

As far as Maria speaking to Freddie and holding his hand. She said Freddie squeezed her hand. I believe this because I heard the last thing to go before a person dies is there hearing. So I know he heard her speak to him.

Being under the influence of drugs at the time of his suicide clouded his thinking, etc. to say the least. Maybe that's why he didn't seek out the Bible at that time. Too bad he didn't.

From what I read, I got the impression he did still read the Bible then & tried to seek help with it but I think the drugs clouded his mind--- those awful pills. I'm a Christian too & from what I've heard about suicide if you're one & you commited suicide you will still go to heaven it's just you don't have as high a place up there. I've heard of Christians committing suicide. I guess I'll find out for sure when I get to heaven. But I do think he's up there since his mom said he was saved...

I do think Freddie is up in heaven. I mentioned on here awhile back how one morning after watching CATM, I was talking to my hubby about Freddie & said it was a shame how he died. I heard 2 knocks on the wall. Really weird & strange. I wondered was if Freddie trying to tell me something. I'm not supertitious so I don't know what it really was LOL!

I later went back to bed & I had a dream about Freddie. In the dream he appeared to me & he was in heaven & he told me he was okay. So I'm hoping from that that he really is there & is in heaven & was maybe trying to tell me he was. I asked my hubby Mike, if he was up there & he thinks so. God Bless you Freddie Prinze...

I like to think he's i Heaven too because he really did a lot of good things.
buying his folks a house
buying that poor friend of his Lunch everyday because he knew she didn't get to eat much.
Taking that stand against dog fights
the list goes on and on.
I just brought it up because I hate to think of one who suffered so in life to suffer in eternity too.
It's always nice to get other perspectives.
I'm sure there must be some considerations for the fact that the drugs he was into were medically perscribed
He was under they're influence at the time and probably didn't realize what he was doing
and another thought that occured to me,
It said in the book that Freddie told his dad that he was bleeding inside.
Whatever was causing the bleeding may have been very painful and sometimes intense pain can make you feel as if your out of control of things. Hey this could be another topic!!

I believe Freddie is with us though. I've gone to sleep and I wanted to wake up at 5:00 AM to see the Chico and the man show and tape it and in my sleep I hear Freddie saying "Get up you have to tape the show" and I get up. I believe he knows we talk about him here. I really do........

Wow, powerful subject!!! I thank all of you for bringing it up. I am also Christian and was very troubled about Freddie taking his own life and how this would affect his eternal life. I have spoken with learned individuals regarding this. I finally have been able to get some peace about it. I feel that due to his state of mind, physical exhaustion, physical conditions, abuse of drugs and alcohol, depression, mental anguish, Freddie was not in complete control of his faculties. He was not able to make sound judgements, most of his perceptions were distorted. He was having legal troubles, relationship troubles, financial problems, his health was failing and he realized he had an addiction problem. I think he must have been overwhelmed by it all and did not know which way to turn. He was very disillusioned by what he learned about the games people play, especially in Hollywood. I read somewhere that (shortly before the end of his life) he was talking with a friend and said to him with such disappointment, "Is this it man? Is this all there is? I work my a** off for this?"
So, just taking all of this into account, I believe in my heart that the Lord sees Freddie's condition at that time, akin to someone who is dying of cancer or some other disease where they are suffering to such a degree that they are no longer in their proper frame of mind. Thus, they are not responsible for the effects the illnesses have on them. (Not to preach or anything.) But The Bible tells us of our Lord and Savior who is Merciful, full of Grace and above all means "LOVE". So I believe and pray that He loves Freddie with a matchless love and forgave his actions. What's more, the Lord SAW and HEARD EVERYTHING that happened to Freddie and affected him from childhood on. He understands the motives and reasons for Freddie's actions. Not that He agrees with them all, but He understands. There was so much pain in his short life, that I feel the Lord sees, knows and understands and most of all forgives him. Like many of you, I feel Freddie is in heaven, is reunited with his friends and family who have since passed on, is fully aware of us and all of the love we are expressing and therefore sending him and is pleased. Love is a universal energy that has no boundaries and no end. Thank you to those who have shared their experiences and the inner conviction that Freddie is still with us. I believe you and feel the exact same way. How else can you explain message boards like these that sprang up and are flourishing? We all have lives, but are bound together by one special man who touched us so many years ago. Read the postings, there is so much love, admiration and respect here. People going out of their way to research our questions, creating and designing websites, scan pictures, writing poems, short stories and novels about him. Just observe all of this love. It is never an empty emotion. It has a supreme return. You cannot lose when you show love. I think Love is one of the greatest commandments. Thanks for listening and sharing your feelings. FREDDIE FOREVER.
