Default Blanche's name in the pilot...

How many of you think Blanche's name was originally Blanche Hollingsworth? This is kind of confusing to figure out... remember the cop in the pilot? Didn't he ask for Blanche HOLLINGSWORTH? What do you all think?

Eric

In the pilot, she was Blanche Hollingsworth. And did you notice that the policeman who came to tell her about her fiancee was none other than Meshach Taylor, the man who played Anthony on Designing Women.

Very Interesting....

Her maiden name was Hollingsworth but I don't know why he didn't call her Deveraux.

Blanche: There must be homosexuals who date women.
Sophia: Yeah, they're called lesbians.

Her maiden name was hollingsworth. As for the pilot, will have to rewatch it to see when he said her name. Some women go back and forth. Designing Women for example, Julia used Sugarbaker when that was only her maiden name. Anyway I know lots of women who do this, some to keep a check on their own identity. Me I just went the traditional route to keep it simple.

Blanche Hollingsworth Deveraux

I believe he did refer to her as Blanche Hollingsworth in the pilot, but shows always change things around after the pilot episode. Mammy Watkins also refered to her as Blanche Marie Hollingsworth when she came for a visit...

Well dang how many names does this woman have!! I thought it was something with an E, so her initials could conveniently spell BED....

As for the writers, come on people, it can't be that hard to keep track of a list of all pertinent info (isn't is called a bible?)!

Maybe in the pilot she wasn't a widow and they changed that?

Dang, really want to watch the pilot now!

I have the pilot episode script, and he does call her Hollingsworth. And Blanche's BED initials stand for Blanche Elixabeth Deveraux.

Go back and watch the pilot... Blanche would have had to have been a maiden, since her name was Hollingsworth, and she was getting married... unless she changed her name...
