Default Lowell's Final Episode

I was watching my "Wings" tapes today and decided to watch Lowell's final episode. I was wondering what the other fans of the show thought of his finale.
In case you don't know what happened, Lowell wittnessed a murder and left the island to join the Wittness Protection Program.
I loved the episode and the show always had something missing after this episode. Thomas Haden Church really is a great actor.

Cool

I thought Lowell's last episode was very good. It was so sad that he had to leave his friends behind forever. Another great character departure episode, IMHO, is "Bill Moves On" (NewsRadio).

The show never was the same after he left and Joe and Helen were married.

I agree! Although I watched the show until the end, there was a big void left by Lowell's departure.

Sad

The show definitely took a big turn after Lowell's leaving. But I was already hooked on the rest of the cast by that time, so I kept watching. Seeing Lowell go was probably the low point of the show for me. Yeah, I cried

Lowell's finale was very sad. Lowell was a big part of Wings. Anything that Lowell said or did was funny. I think if the writers had done a better job coming up with a character to replace Lowell it would have been better.

I was hoping Lowell would return after Ned & Stacey failed, or at least show up for the series finale, but that didn't happen

On the topic of Lowell and Ned & Stacey:

I would have loved to see Lowell return for the finale. But I don't think even Lowell would be stupid enough to take that risk.

In an episode of "Ned & Stacey", Ned (of course played by Thomas Haden Church) was watching television and laughing. Then he said: "Wings, what a zany show." I thought that was funny.

Does anyone else think the people behind "Wings" made Lowell join the witness protection program since it wouldn't seem like his character to just up and leave Nantucket? I was reading an article from when Thomas Haden Church was making the change from Lowell to Ned, and he said that he wouldn't be back on "Wings". So he never intended to visit the show.

I was thinking that a bit too. I thought the only believable ways they could have written him off were either having something awful happen and he had to leave the island, or kill him off.

I heard he was actually there for the taping of the series finale and the final cast party. He just didn't want to appear on the show for some reason.

Me too. Lowell's final scene, Joe reconciling with his mom, and Joe proposing to Helen are three scenes that always leave me in tears.

There are a lot of other Wings moments that leave me in tears- from laughing so hard!

Sad

I was not happy when Lowell left either. It was a very sad day for Wings. I can see Thomas Haden Church reasoning for doing it.
