Default LITB’s Penultimate Episode: The Clothing Drive

After the recent contretemps of Mr. Jeff “borrowing” one of Ward suits after Beaver naively let the former circus sword-swallower into the Cleaver home, we see that due to a mix-up, two more of Ward’s business suits were mistakenly donated to the clothing drive at The Grant Avenue School.

Wow, poor Ward was really running into bad luck in having his suits disappear in one way or another. If they had had “business casual”’ office attire back in 1963, Ward might have avoided the loss of those three suits.

You know, I’ve often wondered just who got those two suits of Ward’s that Beaver brought to the clothing drive? Did Mr. Jeff secure, yet, another one of Ward’s donated suits to wear at his new job? Did Gus-the-Fireman also get one of Ward’s suits or perhaps that old tuxedo of Ward’s that June found in an old truck?

Finally, I wonder who eventually got Wally’s snazzy Hawaiian shirt that Beaver donated to the clothing drive? Wouldn’t handyman Andy Hadlock have looked like a million dollars, strutting into Hank’s Place on a Saturday night, wearing Wally’s tropical Hawaiian shirt? I bet that the always observant Marlene Holmes would have been both VERY interested and VERY intrigued if she saw good, old Andy in Hank’s Place, decked out in that Uber-cool Magnum: PI-like Hawaiian shirt. You go for it, Andy!

I can picture Marlene herself wearing the Hawaiian shirt; she had enough "upstairs" to make it work despite its being large; she would tie-off the bottom front, resulting in an attractive bare midriff...!

I know Ward skulked into Mrs. Rayburn's office, and sheepishly asked for his suits back. I just don't remember if she surrendered them to Ward or if he just left without them.

I think that Ward did got those two suits back from Mrs. Rayburn after suffering great humiliation in asking for them back. (Ward Cleaver = Indian-giver.)

However, I think that the entire Cleaver family pitched in and came up with an assortment of clothes for Beaver to donate to his school’s clothing drive.

PS If you would like to donate clothes to charity, I suggest that you donate your clothes to the Salvation Army, where your donated clothes will actually go to the people who really need them and NOT sold for profit by many of those other “charitable organizations,” whose drop-off donation bins you see near supermarkets and other stores.
