Computer memory...or...something.... - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Alrighty, see, I don't know **** about computers, and every1 I know doesn't know **** about computers...sooooooo, I'm assuming some of you do? Ok, you know how when you download stuff, certain stuff gets used up? Like, MB, or KB, or WhateverB, you know what I mean? Then, all of a sudden, you notice that your computer is very...sllllowwwww, and you can't run more than 2 programs at a time (otherwise, it's so slow it's impossible to deal with, or it freezes....), and when you try to save stuff, there isn't any room. Ok so, how do I fix this? Do I need more "memory" or more of that MB or KB or whatever it is, stuff? And, how do I get that? Do I just go to a computer place and say "I need___" or what man?????

Ugh. Something I know ALL to well. Usually when stuff starts getting like that, my Dad redoes the whole comp. again. We do it every 5 months or so. But, save everything on a disk so it easy to upload after.

UUhh..lol. Thats where my Dad usually comes in. I dunno what we does. Some how he just...erases everything off the hard drive and started from scratch all over again. If that doesnt make any sense (Im sure it doesnt lol) do what I do: delete any songs you dont listen to, or put them on CD's so you can delete all the music files. Also, delete any documents you no longer need and anything else you dont use. Then, just empty your recycle bin.

That's what I need to do. My computer goes so slow. I've got stories saved, songs saved, pictures for the screen saver saved. Yet, everytime I delete something I save 10 more items.

I think thats reformatting the harddrive to get rid of it all and start over... MB/KB is harddrive space well it could be harddrive space or RAM.....

1,000 bytes in a KB
1,000 KB in a MB
1,000MB in a GB

and so on.,.. Most computers come with around 20 gigabytes(GB) Of space, some old ones come with like less then a GIG of space... Things like MP3 Downloads usually take up around 3 megabyte(MB) of space... Assuming its an average song with average lenth and so on... As far as not being able to run much at the same time, that seems to be more in the category of like needing more RAM, Um do you have AOL? (This all going to Adele)

I do this every few weeks...

1. Go to start
2. Go to Accessories
3. In Accessories click "System Tools"
4. Click "Disk Cleanup"
5. Run it and then when it opens that window up just click OK, it won't delete any of your programs so don't worry about that.

It's good for the computer but I don't know if it will really help.

Also, You need to go to accsessories and clicj "Windows Explorer" Not Internet Explorer, and find temporary internet files delete of the temporary internet files, also find cookies and delete all the cookies there but dont delete the INDEX file, Also try clearing history or try deleteing/Uninstaling programs you don't use anymore

Unfortunately. Btw thanks (every) for the suggestions...but, RAM? haha Oh ya, and I think's it's more than just having to clean it, cuz I have this cleaning program that I use every week, AND I've deleted a bunch of stuff.

A Good thing to do would be to do a disk cleanup, or delete youre cookies.

Deleting Temp internet files/Cookies always helps... I do that weekly as well.....
