I don't live in the us and have only seen a few eps, but what is the connection between The Mary Tyler Moore Show and The Bob Newhart show?

My uncle wrote episodes of both...but that probably didn't help. (he also wrote FOL, Mash, etc. but only Kaitlyn believes me so...)

What do you mean? The only connection that I can think of is that they used to be on CBS on Saturday nights one after the other. First Bob Newhart then Mary Tyler Moore. Why do you think there is a connection?
