Question about J.J's Hat - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I never seen the true hollywood story on E about Good times but was it ever explained why J.J wore that dumb hat the first 4 seasons and why it was removed after season 4?

Actually, he wore it once during the 5th season in the episode, I Had a Dream. He didn't wear it at all during the 6th season.

The reason he wore the hat was for a good luck charm. I guess he wore it early in his standup days and it gave him a sense of luck.

Yeah, it probably was good luck for him. Some people have a lucky rabbits foot. J.J. has a lucky hat
