I just watched Linus the Lionhearted from a DVR recording. I never realized that Carl Reiner, Sheldon Leonard, Ruth Buzzi, Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara were some of the voice actors for these cartoons.

MPI Media Group acquired the rights to the series and will be releasing the restored cartoons on DVD.
https://cartoonresearch.com/index.ph...e-lionhearted/ Speaking of lions, Father of the Pride had a star studded voice cast as well. Carl Reiner did both series. |

If you read the Cartoon Research article linked by TJ, this is another of those animated series affected by originally being broadcast in black and white. The color negatives for the extended opening in the first season must be lost, since that is now available only in black and white.

The star-studded voice lineup was fantastic—for a “meh”-humor cartoon!
![]() Are these above posts saying that only SOME Linus cartoons have been restored? If so, that’s a shame. I also figured ALL of Linus to be produced in color—at least the animation that wasn’t used in commercials. And BTW IMO there was no SADDER music than the closing of Linus. It sure belied the opening music! cd |
