Default Compareing Happy Days

What do you think of the idea of comparing and contrasting Happy Days with any given show. Things they have in common, chacter personalities that are simmilar and diffrent. Who would win in a fight between Fonzie and any given chacter from any other show? Would Richie get along with the lead chacter from the other show? What eposodes remind you of eachother.

And it dosen't even have to be from T.V., comparing to books or movies, or even radio dramas are fine. I'd like some feedback..and maybe some comparsion posts before I start, O.K.? (Hey...it's that newbie fear of being yelled at)

Hey newbie! Welcome! Im Crystal.

Umm...well, Id relate the show to Laverne & Shirley. Only because it was the same kind of show- show of the 50's made in the 70's. Happy Days is a family oriented show like Full House, Family Matter, Brady Bunch- each show gives good morals and values. The Fonz was a star of the show- he was cool! He's one of those characters that you never forget like: Vinnie Barbarino, Steve Urkel, Archie Bunker, Lucy Ricardo, Mary Richards, Jeannie, Gilligan- people that just stick with you. Plus, Fonzie is the EPITOME of cool! Fonzie would win ANY fight--without even throwing a punch! He intimidates everyone just by a look, and the leather jacket is a good touch, too. If Richie were to get along with someone else from another TV show, hed get along with just about everyone nice. Especially the Bradys. Happy Days had really cool catchprases, just like other shows had these: Up your nose with a rubberhose!, Hello!, Meathead, Watchootalkinbout, Willis?, etc... IMO, you could find just about anything to relate to Happy Days if you really thought about it.

I gave this some thought once, and I compared Vinny Babarino from "Welcome Back, Kotter" to Fonzie from Happy Days. I know they're very different characters, but in some ways, they're the same. Vinny and Fonzie were the coolest of the cool in their respective shows, and they led their friends out of some bad situations. They wouldn't put up with anyone's crap and they earned respect from their "followers". Anyways, being that I'm not a big Kotter fan, I'd say that Fonz would beat Vinny in a fight hands down. He could probably just snap his fingers and freeze Vinny in place (behold the mystical powers of the Fonz!). I could see the dialog now...

Vinny: "Up your nose with a rubber hose!"
Fonzie: "Heeeeey! Whoa!" (Thumbs down)

I don't know how well the other characters in the shows would get along. I couldn't see Richie being buddy-buddy with Vinny Babarino. Maybe Ralph Malph and Horshack would get along, but other than that, it's not very possible.

Good topic, by the way!

Default Here's a comparision:

How about comparing Happy Days to 7th Heaven?

Cunninghams are a normal, middle-class family just going through life. Nothing out of the ordnary except for the occisional weird incident.

Camdons are a fairly normal family. Occisionally the not-so-normal situation occurs, but mostly they deal with day-to-day issues of the typical American family.

^ ^ ^ ^

The perfict Cunningham life is distrupted by the attation-grabing presence of Author Fonzerilli. Full-fledged rebel and former gang member, he suceeds in turning the Cunningham fammly upside-down, to the delight of the children and the concern of the adults.

The semi-perfict Camdon family life is distrupted by the bad-boy Robert Palmer. Smooth talking and quick thinking, he turns the lives of the Camdon children upside-down while the parents get a little left behind.

^ ^ ^ ^

I'm not finished. To be Contuned in another post.

Default Comparing 7th Heaven and Happy Days, Count.

Fonzie became closer and closer to the Cunninghams, and, eventually, they became key to his growing from an irrisponsiable thug and delenquent to a sucessful busnessman and teacher (Who just happenes to ride a motercycle)

Robbie moved in with the Camdon's, giving him a whole new perspective on life and turning him from a complete gutter-minded jerk to a really nice guy and a pure gentleman.

____________________________________________________

Eventully, Fonzie became the extra family member. The "big brother" to Richie and Joanie as well as like a son to Howard and Marrion. He even went as far to be Richie's Stand in at his wedding., and, on a less large scale, even has a special nickname for Joanie.

Along the same lines, Robbie became the extra big brother to the Camdon family. Despite the occisional romantic entanglement with one of the older daughters, he's closer to being big brother then anyone else except Matt. He even went as far as to be Matt's best man at Matt's wedding...he even invented a special nikckname for Ruthie.

There are thousands of other comparisions. Joanie is a lot like Ruthie. Both were little kids no one took seriously until they grew up without anyone noticing. Now they're both smart, responsiable, and hard workers.

I could go on and on and on...but I have other things to do online.
