I adored 'The First Wives Club' because it was the first time I ever saw Elizabeth Berkley in a role other than Jessie. She only had three scenes (one where she didn't speak) but I was completely laughing all over the room. I couldn't stop looking at her. She was being so DIFFERENT. The only time I'd ever seen her was seeing her with darker hair, strutting around in godawful blouses calling every male onscreen a pig. But now she was skittering all over the place like she was on tiptoes and doing a terrible accent- and wearing clothing that was considerably more fashionable. It was a lovely change of pace.
'The Real Blonde' was more of the same- she had a lot more scenes, but she didn't SAY so many funny things as much as DO them. For example, the Madonna video. I often wonder, watching the beginning of her dance routine, how it must feel seeing your own butt ten feet tall onscreen. Elizabeth Berkley had the least scenes but two very amusing lines in 'The Curse of the Jade Scorpion'. On another note, I absolutely loved all the Forties fashion in that movie. 'Eastside' was wicked, absolutely wicked. That's all I can say about that. |
