Default Why did people enjoy Barbra Streisand movies?

I have never figured out why Barbra Streisand became a hit actress and how her movies were liked by people. Is it because Barbra thought in addition to her singing career she thought she would do movies as a second hobby? Because I never knew why the movies Yentl Nuts Funny Girl and The Way We Were became successful. But the film of Barbra Streisand that is the most popular is A Star Is Born. But as the 90's came out Barbra Streisand became more popular with The Prince Of Tides in 1991 and starred in The Mirror Has Two Faces in 1997 and I cannot figure out why Barbra Streisand movies have such a monster fanbase? The one Barbra Streisand movie my mom enjoys is The Way We Were and how that movie is a classic i'll never know

Barbra was a good actress along with being a good singer. First couple of movies I remember of her were " What's up Doc" and " For Pete's sake" both comedies that I saw first run in the movie theater when I was young. They were really good, very funny .

The one Barbra Streisand movie my mom and I saw but disliked was The Mirror Has Two Faces and I couldn't figure out why Barbra Streisand made this movie but Mom and I found The Mirror Has Two Faces confusing but at least the love theme I Finally Found Someone is wonderful and scored Barbra Streisand a hit

Why does Barbra Streisand always misspell her own name?

Yes. Comedy and drama. Besides the ones I mentioned, What's up doc and For Pete's sake , A star is born and The way we were , she was great too.

Whenever I think of A Star is Born it takes me back to my best friend and I going to see it at the theater three times in a row. We loved it. But by the third time, we laughed when (spoiler alert) her husband killed himself. It was sad as anything but after the third time it just made us giggle. And the old woman in front of us turned around and glared at us like we had no feelings. For some reason I always remember that. I loved the movie and I even played the soundtrack hundreds of times.

The only two films I like that have Barbra Streisand in them are Funny Girl (a great musical in my opinion) and Hello Dolly (what SHOULD have been a great musical but fell short in my opinion). The other Streisand movies... never did "grab" me.

Why I think Barbra Streisand branched out into acting is because when you're a famous singer for some reason they want to market you as an actress to get you in movies. But I think why Barbra thought she could get into movies was so she could expand her career beyond music. But I think the movie that never should've been made as I mentioned was The Mirror Has Two Faces and how Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges starred in that movie i'll never figure out because when my mom and I saw it as I mentioned earlier we found it quite unappealing and the only saving grace of that movie was Barbra's songs and the soundtrack. But if there is only one Barbra Streisand movie that is worth watching is A Star Is Born

My PBS station's airing Barbra Streisand's final concert from 2001 as I'm typing this, and even in 2001, Barbra still had a great singing voice. She even did a song dedicated to James Brolin.
