Hello, fellow Unsolved Mysteries fans.
I've loved Unsolved Mysteries ever since I first saw it. I was born in '85, so I've practically been watching it my whole life! It was so cool (and, for a young kid, very creepy. ). I absolutely love the theme song (the original one, that is), so eerie and surreal. Now, I remember something about a song that would play whenever they would show an "UPDATE" (complete with the word "UPDATE" in the corner of the screen, and Robert saying "Update!"... Inconspicuous, aren't they? ) I remember that this song was rather creepy-sounding, but I can't remember what the song actually sounds like! Does anyone possibly have an MP3 or WAV file of it? This probably is not likely, but I figured I'd ask anyway...I'm really happy about getting the theme song MP3's from the Unsolved Mysteries Online site, I had been wanting a recording of that song for quite some time. |

In the early years, there was 2 different update themes. One that wasn't scarey, and one that was!
The one you're talking about is the one that starts soft then has a SWOOSH, BA-DA!!! start. It's basically a slower more creepy version of the theme song with some extra little sounds to add to make it extra freaky. The update that was shown involving the Maples (kidnapped 2 of their grandchildren) had the freaky update music you're talking about. I'm not sure if there are any sound files on it, but I could be wrong. |

This is a possibility for a future addition, I also hope to add the 1999 CBS theme at some point. Stay tuned for future UPDATES!
Of course if anybody has any sound files for the site, please send them in so they can be added to the archive. |

Does anyone know where the themes are located? I've searched the site but I can't find them anymore.

I don't know which update music you two are talking about. Or if the one that scares me is the same one that scares you. For me, it's the one that seems to have all these beeping sounds in it, and midway through the music it sounds like there are high pitched whistles. *Shudders* The other one, was the one that was played when they did the update for that lady on the indian reservation that killed her boyfriend and tried to sell a truck but the disappeared. That one is more low tones with just a um, er, a "bing-bing" every few seconds through the music. Not scary.

I keep reading about how the Update music is so scary but I have never found either of the well-used Update themes to be scary in the least. Very cool, yes. Scary, no. The second theme that Zero mentioned is, I believe, the one used more frequently, and I like that one best. The closest scary theme there is, I think, is the one they used for the capture and conviction of Dave Davis.
I actually find the scariest UM theme to be the "Coming up Next" one they did before '95 as they were going to commercial, and the end of the opening theme from that same era where it goes "BAM BAM" as the UM logo disappears and it goes to 'Hosted by Robert Stack'. |

I think when the main theme turns to the "solved" part, that sounds scary...haha. Hell, the whole thing is scary. It's great
![]() The "UPDATE" music is just cool sounding.... Does anyone know where I can get the update theme to download? It used to be on the site, but now I can't find it. TJ? Kane? Anyone? |

I never had any of the update music, sorry. The themes had to be removed from the site last year at the request of Unsolved Mysteries.

Hey everyone
Almost all of the Unsolved Mysteries music was composed by Gary Malkin. It's a really good music package. I wish I had some of the cues used. The package is really large. There are cues for Updates, Lost Love segments, a couple of cues with a piano, some cues for the ghosts and other segments. I know they have used a few cues from other composers. I have looked all over for any online samples, and all I could find was a piece called "All the Kings Men". You can hear the cue at the link below: www.vamtech-ent.com/sunset/ valentineproject/production_music.htm |

I'd really love it if they released a soundtrack of all the music with the dvds, the music was one of my most favorite parts of the show.

I would love a copy of the UM music!! It would be nice to hear all of the music by itself. Not sure how many other people would buy it. I know to license the music out with the DVD is plenty of cash. Aside from the track on the Television's Greatest Hits CD, I doubt we will see any kind of music from the show. I have talked with many composers who do music for television, and don't even like the idea of having their music for sample online.
