The story of the 1978-79 season
WKRP struggled the first couple of months of the 78-79 season falling as low as #44 in the rankings. After October the show was pulled off the air on Nov 8, 1978 and placed on Hiatus for 2 months. One newspaper had the show cancelled and then it returned to the CBS schedule on Jan 15, 1979. It was placed in the 9:30pm slot in Between Mash and Lou Grant on Mondays. After the show the show stayed in the top 20 the remainder of the season and was renewed and added to the CBS schedule for the 1979-80 season
