Default Most irritating GG issue

Ok, we've all beat the dead horse about the writing not being consistent on the show.

However, what irritates you most about the girls? Could it be Dorothy's never-ending struggle to find a man? Rose's constant St. Olaf references? Blanche's slutiness? How about Sophia's constant griping about money? Or... is it something else?

I'm just curious if there is someone people would like to change about the girls.

I just about want to turn off the tv whenever Rose says, "Back in St. Olaf...." Although some of her stories are sort of funny, I get so tired of that line.

I disagree. I think that this is one important thing that makes Rose Rose.

Blanche: There must be homosexuals who date women.

What irritates me isn't so much about the girls but about the inconsistencies in the show, especially the places and situations in which Sophia met Sal - there must have been 5 or 6 different explanations for that which was a little irritating. With a comedy as funny and as classic as The Golden Girls it would have been nice if facts were kept consistent throughout the show. First Blanche's middle name was Marie, the next it was Elizabeth and there were two different explanations for her husband's death aswell.

But, like I said, I didn't find anything about the girls necessarily irritating but rather the people behind the scenes.

After watching GG for so long, I've gotten really tired of Rose's St. Olaf stories, LOL, they're just not as funny the 100th time around, you know?

I agree with Sam as well, the inconsistencies during the shows run. They're probably due to the fact of the two different main writing teams... that's really the only explanation.

nothing bothered me about this perfect show. BUT something does come CLOSE to bothering me. All the near marriges, moves, and whatever.

Examples

Chuck asked me to marry him
John asked me to marry him and i think i'm going to
Jamie asked me to move to france with him
Al asked me to sail around the world
on and on and on BLAH BLAH BLAH. They always decide not to, and the one time sphia did, she gets a divorce. And when Rose finally finds Miles, she breaks up with him, in golden place

There is one thing that irritates me, Rose's St. Olaf stories, don't get me wrong, I do like Rose, but whenever I hear Rose start to say "back in St. Olaf" I just want to yell "shut up Rose". Sorry, but that does irritate me sometimes.

That's exactly how I feel anymore, LOL, after seeing pretty much every episode 50 times, it gets a little tiresome.

Definitely the inconsistencies. I get more annoyed when Sophia tells her Sicily stories than when Rose tells her St. Olaf stories.

I agree about the inconsistencies being a bit annoying, but it has never detracted from my enjoyment of the show. I was always annoyed by Dorothy's nay-sayer mentality, the way she was always doubting Sophia, Rose or Blanche's ability to follow through on certain things. I also didn't like the way she butted into her children and her mother's life. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that irritated me about the show.

The different actors for the same characters, mainly the girl's children, annoyed me more than anything else. I know this has been mentioned many times on this board but that just bothers me to no end.

Bloopers that are not that far apart time-wise.

Example - There is an episode early in the 3rd season, when Rose is afraid of giving an eulogy at her aunt's funeral, she mentioned that she was class valedictorian. The following season, in the very first episode when Dorothy is teaching a night class, Rose says that she never graduated high school.

How can the writers not pay attention, and remember what they wrote less than a year earlier? Very sloppy writing on the writer's part.

As for the most annoying thing, I'm going to have to go with Rose's St. Olaf stories, hands-down. I could never really get into them all that much to begin with, but as someone else already mention, the 50th time around, they do become quite tiresome.
