Hey,
I was watching the episode where Della and Chico want Ed to hire a senior citizen and they make a bet that Ed can't get a job. Ed says I'll bet you a weeks wages and Chico calls him a cheapskate so ed says ok lets make it 50.00. You mean to tell me Chico didn't even make 50.00 a week?? I know they were never very busy but come on-that must be a blooper! LOL |

I think Chico's wages were always supposed to be pretty sorry--there was always a running joke about it on the show!
Plus, Chico didn't have to worry about paying rent or utilities; he didn't have to worry about car payments or buying gas to drive back and forth to work.. However, I think Ed was getting the better part of the deal--having cheap labor who was a good mechanic, he cooked, cleaned, built up the business, and looked after Ed (not like his worthless daughter who seemed to disappear after one show!)

I always wondered about this too. I think it was just supposed to be a gag. I bet by this time that Chico wasn't making a salary anyway, but probably worked on commission. Most mechanics do. |
